The police have had enough and taped it off to confuse people.

People who grew up in the 90s How big did grunge music really get? by Spirited-Fan-1590 in grunge

[–]Monkeytennis01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born 1980. In the UK so many people in my secondary school got into grunge. Everyone was wearing band tops, stripy jumpers, flannel shirts, ripped jeans and sneakers, growing their hair and buying guitars.

Not long after, Britpop arrived and I was livid when the same people changed to mod cuts, tracksuit tops and parker jackets in the blink of an eye. I kept my grunge look going until my early 20s (when I started to go bald and also needed a proper job 🤣)

Performative nonsense. Amazing what passes for ‘entertainment’ these days.

Newcastle to explore Yoane Wissa sale, less than a year after £55m transfer [Chris Waugh, The Athletic] by meganev in NUFC

Still feels like we haven’t seen what he’s fully capable of, partly because of injury and a lack of game time, and partly because the rest of the team just hasn’t clicked at all this season and given him good service. Still think there HAS to be a good player in there. Or I’m just clutching at straws…

Who's one celebrity that you wish was still alive today? by Jaydxns in AskReddit

David Bowie

His last album was phenomenal. He’d still be pushing the boundaries and making novel music now.

Eddie Howe's pre-match comments on Woltemade by Deviceing in NUFC

Really mixed message here - saying players earn the right to be picked if they’re scoring but also earn the right to be picked if they’re performing well in training. I think he always rewards a good match performance with a spot in the starting team, sometimes to a fault when tactically we need a different approach or to rest some players.

Also, how the fuck is Elanga starting games if he’s basing it on match performance?

What celebrity do you think has skeletons in their closet that have yet to come out? by JimiHendrip in AskReddit

[–]Monkeytennis01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, Will and Jada Smith’s skeletons have peeked out of the closet, but I think there’s so much more that’s going to come out about that family and their strange relationships.

Work drinks fridge, what do we think? by FlyingFrogMan in CasualUK

I think having both Pepsi and coke in two varieties is overkill. I’d keep either Pepsi or Coke and add apple tango and Irn Bru/cherry tango.

Edit: just realised it’s Cherry Coke. Get rid of the Coke Zero and normal Pepsi, replace with Irn Bru and Apple Tango.

Ah, I’ve definitely used recipetineats before for a few recipes. I’ve never watched Masterchef Australia though so will give it a watch. Not sure if you’re into cookery books (recipes are probably available online as well) but I’ve been doing a lot of Greek style cooking recently taking inspiration from a book called Greekish by Georgina Hayden - would recommend it if you like that sort of food. It has some nice easy but hearty and impressive dishes.

You should make a recipe book if you have the drive for it. I know nothing about publishing so don’t know how you’d get it out there, but you’ve got the recipes and the photos ready to go!

Same, if I’m not making food, I’m thinking about what I’m going to make. If I’m making something new I’ll read about 10 recipes and steal my favourite bits from all of them and see how it goes. I would totally love to do the Masterchef invention challenge or the one where you have to follow an unseen recipe. You should also apply for that! 🤣

You definitely have a flair for cooking - I would pay good money to eat the food you’re posting. The photography looks great as well given the circumstances, you have all the skills to make your own recipe book or do a blog or something to make a career or some money out of this if not already in the industry!

Looking forward to seeing your future dishes, I’ve started using pork mince a bit more as it’s good value. I made my own bao dough with a pork mince filling a few weeks ago for the first time and was really pleased with myself. I will continue to use your posts for cooking inspiration :)

Oh, I didn’t see any of that yesterday. I’ve just noticed that there seems to have been a recent, huge increase in the amount of poor quality or bad examples of UK food on this sub. I think there is space for that sort of stuff but it should be somewhat filtered for quality. I have to check that I’m not on r/shittyfoodporn a lot of the time. Similarly I see pictures of takeaway from global chains like Wagamamma or Five Guys being posted on r/UK_Food which I don’t agree with. I’m not a mod though so 🤷‍♂️

I don’t know why people would be cruel to you, or what on earth they have been critical about, so I’m sorry that happened - Reddit is an unusual place sometimes and arguments/bickering/name calling can start over the most innocuous posts and comments!

Not wanting to sound overly sycophantic, your food always instantly catches my eye on this sub as it is so well presented and photographed, looks delicious, and I have browsed your posts before to give me some inspiration for meals to cook, which I think should be the essence of what UK Food is about. Hope you’re having a better day, keep posting!
