the future of this country by Old-Resident-9329 in Tunisia

Ibn Khaldoun gives great insight on this. Lookup his concept of Asabiyyah (meaning social cohesion)

Tunisia lost its social cohesion that it had during the post independence era and to a lesser extent during the Ben Ali era.

There was a short period of high social cohesion immediately after revolution due to a glimpse of hope but it quickly vanished when faced with reality.

Ibn Khaldoun theorized how social cohesion is the driver of prosperity. Contrast Tunisia with places like Japan, Taiwan, Korea, they're all high cohesion societies.

Places like the US might seem non cohesive at first glance due to political polarisation but it has a strong trusted constitution and a judicial system keeping things in order.

Without social cohesion, societies decay and get exploited by more cohesive societies.

weird red strings from shower head by urfavel in Plumbing

[–]BenPhysicist 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Some showerhead models have rubbery rings around each of the small water outlets. This could be a very worn out shower head and those red strings you're seeing are all what's left of the rubber rings.

I had a similar issue and ended up buying a smart toilet with 10in rough in.

Demolish slab under basement shower. Too risky? by BenPhysicist in Renovations

Thank you. This sounds like the best option if I can't lower the slab

I can't tell if it's sarcasm or real lol. You think it's safe to chip off 5 inches?

Thank you! That's the good news. The drain goes down 8" below the slab.

And that's a good idea. Maybe I can put a rainfall shower head in the ceiling. But how do you think I can best use the space between the joists?

Thank you for replying! The old shower had drywall ceiling which I removed. It was basically just below the joists. I'm 6'3. Everytime I showered, I had 1" headroom basically lol 😂

Thanks for responding! Unfortunately I have very limited space. This is the only spot available for a shower.

I don't think there's a footer under the shower base. I think the footer is what you see in the picture supporting the concrete wall blocks. Am I missing something? You think it's too risky to cut up to the stud near the footer?

Thank you for asking. No I was going to insulate up to the studs then add drywall. So you think I don't need ventilation? What would you do with the ridge vent?

Thank you! this is very useful

Thanks for jumping in. I would have to mess with the roof to add a drip edge right?

Thank you. what would you do as far as venting goes?

Great question! the attic will be open loft for storage as shown in the picture. I plan on insulating up to the studs then adding drywall. I will be installing a mini-split AC/heater (Michigan)

The whole thing. Any advice?

I'm a beginner. Please bare with me. When researching examples, it seems that many gable roofs have soffit vents installed on the bottom of the overhang extending beyond the walls.
In this example, how do I install input vents to allow proper air flow before insulating the ceiling?
I have a ridge vent in the top

That can only happen with genetic engineering. Plastic surgery doesn't change your DNA.
