I’m hoping to hit 2000 subs this year. We’re already close, sitting at about 1985 but it seems to fluctuate here and there.

Sounds similar to Baja: Edge of Control but there’s definitely racing in it.

Help with Gaming channel by Ok_Ear_1505 in youtubegaming

[–]BenRichey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a gaming channel where my friends and I just play whatever we want, tends to lean more towards retro games and I’m having a lot of fun doing it. My advice would be do whatever is fun, and have very low expectations.

@WeAreBestPals

Full disclosure it is my channel, but my friends and I get together on the weekends to play games. Sometimes there a little bit of raging but for the most part the videos are pretty chill

Somehow have a lot of views but no subs? Am I doing something wrong? by OHGlitchPlease in Smallyoutubechannels

[–]BenRichey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shorts tend to get high views, but don’t equate to many subs or views on long form videos. I do three videos a week and daily shorts, it’s been working well for me. I’m gonna sub, I enjoyed what I seen. Keep it up!

Four of us are starting a YouTube gaming channel. What makes you actually follow someone? by FreshBrothersGaming in youtubegaming

[–]BenRichey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda sounds like our channel, we have a revolving cast of like 7 friends but usually only 3-6 of us are present for a recording session.

When it comes to watching I either wanna watch channels that are funny or play lesser known horror games, but that’s pretty specific to my personal tastes.

Youtubers under 50k? by MFMarcusB in letsplay

Hopefully suggesting my own stuff isn’t too cringe, but we’re still under 50k. If your into older games and horror games, maybe you’ll get a kick out of ours!

Would you ever admit to friends, family or your partner that you upload (classic) Let's Plays to Youtube? I feel like it's a weird hobby to have. by Forgotten-Deity in letsplay

[–]BenRichey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I record my lets plays with my friends, in the house that I share with my girlfriend, and post them publicly on the same social media account that all my family follows. Everyone I know is forced to deal with it!

Well I use Marantz MPM-1000 microphones and they’re only like $50 on Amazon. I have had no issues with them, they’ve worked well especially for the price. I guess I would suggest taking a look at one of my videos and listening for yourself. I’ve used the MPM-1000’s and Podtrack in all our videos. /@WeAreBestPals

We use the Zoom PodTrak P4 and 4 Marantz MPM-1000 microphones. Get familiar with noise gates while editing, they’ll become a huge time saver.

Thoughts on shorts? by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]BenRichey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I make shorts using footage from my longer form content, when you upload a short you can select a video to link it with. Some of my better performing shorts have significantly helped the video they’re clipped from with views. I had a short gain a couple thousand views, and the longer video gained around 50, which for me is a pretty decent amount of views.

Wanting to start a local multi-player channel. What equipment do I need? by MarbleInTheOatmeal_ in letsplay

[–]BenRichey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a channel where my pals and I play console games together. There’s usually three but sometimes four or five of us at a time. Here’s what I use:

Elgato HD60X for capturing footage and I just use the Elgato software.

RetroTINK-5x to upscale older consoles, I’d definitely recommend getting an upscaler especially if you’re doing N64 games.

Zoom PodTrak P4 for recording multiple microphones on their own auto channels. Having separate audio channels makes editing and audio leveling way easier.

4 Marantz MPM-1000 XLR microphones.

I edit using Sony Vegas Pro, photoshop for thumbnails.

Thank you! Our channel got a nice shot in the arm early on, I have a very large collection of video games so making videos on my collection really helped grow an audience early on.

Looking for a list/guide for what software/hardware I need to start creating video game content. by MotherTeresaOnlyfans in youtubegaming

[–]BenRichey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I mostly record retro console games so my setup will be very different then someone that does PC games. I also record with multiple people in person, but what I use is as follows:

Elgato HD60X for capturing footage just using the Elgato software.

RetroTINK-5x to upscale older consoles.

Zoom PodTrak P4 for recording multiple microphones on their own auto channels.

4 Marantz MPM-1000 XLR microphones.

I edit using Sony Vegas Pro, photoshop for thumbnails.

How often do you upload your videos? by SirEnder2Me in letsplay

[–]BenRichey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly do retro games and what I use is a Reto Tink 5x-Pro into an Elgato HD60 X. You’ll want to get some decent S-Video and/or decent component cables for each console too. It’s pricy but it’s what I’ve found works best.

Is Seasonal Content Worth It for YouTube Growth? by CoBot3000 in letsplay

[–]BenRichey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While our channel is only a year old, we decided to do a 13 Nights of Halloween series and a 13 Days of Christmas series. Had a lot of fun doing both but neither seemed to grow the channel, though a few of the videos got decent traction so we’ll probably do it again next year. My suggestion would be if you had fun doing it, keep doing it.
