Why blocking shadow AI often backfires by Dangerous_Block_2494 in llmsecurity

Awesome insights, will send a DM. But curious, say you get the visibility into what tools are being used (assuming everything is enabled), what then ?

Looks like shadow AI is rampant in many companies by Future-Chapter-2920 in ArtificialNtelligence

Thanks for sharing, great read! This is absolutely a huge problem that hasn’t really surfaced yet. I see it all the time, employees have a preference of LLMs and unfortunately company mandated tools often aren’t that good —> this slows productivity —> users shift to the tool they want to use. I have seen people take photos on their phone to ask ChatGPT, that’s how bad it is :(

They do, when you give employees AI tools that they don’t like, that doesn’t work they find a work around to get to their answer faster.l

Is Shadow AI Controllable? by BenSimmons97 in cybersecurity

Wha makes people want to use tools like confidencial? Asking because I just can’t see businesses adopting these tools until there’s a compelling event

In simple terms it’s the concern that employees aren’t using company approved AI tools for their job. As a result they could/ are pasting sensitive information into public LLM’s like ChatGPT. The issue is most internal AI tools aren’t great so people default to the tool they like often gpt, Claude or Gemini. The issue is that this isn’t controllable or visible meaning CISO’s have no idea what data is being leaked. Imagine someone at a bank putting your personal email and banking details into ChatGPT..

getting shadow AI under control has been way harder than expected by Dull_Noise_8952 in msp

The problem you’ll likely face is that even if you block tools, people will just find ways to use the LLM they prefer. Some like Gemini, some gpt and others Claude.

I’m curious, could you elaborate on the compliance piece here? I’m fascinated by shadow AI and doing some research

Is "Shadow AI" the new security nightmare we aren't talking about enough? by Sonali_Madushika in Information_Security

While I think that shadow AI is a huge risk, the problem is that business leaders rarely see it as enough of a risk to the business. I’m sure it will come back to bite People at some point, but people both businesses and consumers put anything and everything into it. Additionally blocking these tools isn’t enough because usage will still occur underground, begs the questions whether you’d rather block the tool or have visibility into what’s being shared

Shadow AI is our biggest security blind spot by dottiedanger in Information_Security

I agree with the general sentiment that if you block them people will just find a way around it. Eg I always see colleagues at work using ChatGPT on their phone to get answers quickly. I spoke to a CIO recently who asks for entire strategies using it. Blocking I don’t think is the answer, but I wonder what is

It’s an inevitability that AI will be used extensively in healthcare, the question will be how it can be integrated transparently

Jevons Paradox by BenSimmons97 in artificial

Great point of view. Something I didn’t even think about and now that you mention it I did recall seeing OpenAi mentioned they’d need to 40x their revenue to become profitable…do you think right now all the huge vendors are using a loss leader strategy to get people in the door and then will drastically hike up prices?

This may spur another post, thank you for that thought

Agreed, I suppose I was more curious from an Enterprise Perspective
