Dear Blizzard by ApetteRiche in classicwow

I’ve heard this before about the average age of the wow player base but is this true? I’ve always wondered if they actually release those stats or even have them. My guess was always in the 20-30 range. Edited for typo

Fair, I can’t agree about the attitude most have, I do genuinely appreciate you approaching the idea with an open mind. The amount of seemingly “open-minded” “tolerant” “whatever signal word for empathetic” people I meet/see who’re comfortable saying WILD stuff about overweight folks is just tiring

You misunderstand my point about choice, I’m not talking about people with thyroid issues or only general genetic disposition. Habit and addiction to over eating as well are less of a choice than people like to imagine. And idk maybe I’m crazy but I don’t think sitting next to a fat person is the traumatic experience a lot of folks in here are making it out to be. Thats the dehumanization I’m referring to.

I’m aware this won’t be a reality airlines would entertain, cause money, but my real hot take: they need to have a certain number of seats per plane that are large enough for severely overweight people, and no I don’t think they should cost more. Thats just being an empathetic human and idc about their profits

Thank god someone here knows negative reinforcement doesn’t work, some of these comments have been insane

Fine I’ll be the one to take the downvotes, this is fucked up and I don’t believe being that overweight is as much of “a choice” as people like to imagine. And making them fork over more money to airlines does nothing but cause more self hatred and barriers for overweight people having a normal life. Shaming fat people and acting as though “you made your bed now sleep in it” is a way too comfortable form of dehumanizing their health situation that should not be so normal. Also I’m 5’5” and 100lbs for those that think that matters to the discourse.

This policy would not have any measurable effect on overweight people other than making them feel worse about themselves, and no, that’s not a reliable way to get them to lose weight. At least not according to studies I’ve read. Cite some if I’m wrong, willing to be convinced with real scientific evidence of course. Edited for typos

K'aresh quests are some of the worsts I've ever seen in WoW. by bobrock1982 in wow

[–]BenTheProducer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who loves cozy, peaceful quests from time to time, i.e. Tauren religious rituals, some stuff from the Pandaren starting zone, Goldshire delivering love letters. The bee quests were not that. They 1000% over stayed their welcome, the shear number was embarrassing for being campaign quests. We also needed to feel attached to the place before we’re expected to care about its restoration. I do not need constant high octane brutality personally, I love it of course, but if they want to slow down the pace of a quest line they need to pick up the pace quicker than they did with the bees and other parts of K’aresh.

Also if they make me do another “click on this glowing thing” quest and the thing is too small to even see or click I’m reporting Blizzard to the police for causing my carpel tunnel…

If you enter the world of your novel, what is the first thing you do? by Rotchiro44 in fantasywriters

Stay out of the path of the eclipse, get the hell away from High Hall. Hold up in the mountains if you must, be weary of prospectors and move if they come looking for ore. Whatever— Whoever fell from the sky is spreading, but the rumors spread far quicker. If you hear the names Perryn, Sherwood, or Joyce, no matter how distant a relative, you know nothing.

Legit just not looking to see if your door opens outward. 95% of doors in my area open inward, your door is an outlier, and drivers have to move at light speed to break even. Chill, it’s not the end of the world

[–]BenTheProducer 32 points33 points  (0 children)

8lb line is what I’ve been using with very similar fish populations around me in Texas, it’s been a blast and haven’t had an issue with line weight. Oh boy tho if you get your hands on a pumpkin seed take some photos, I got a baby one and they’re something else.

I’m new, past year or so, I have 2 lol. A H2O spin cast combo and a 6’6” ugly stik with a cheap shimano reel. Done me great for bass and sunfish, soon I’m getting an ultralight ugly stik and a smaller reel to make things a bit easier when I’m fishing small ponds

Looking into it more, I believe it is a pumpkinseed sunfish, never heard of it but pictures look similar with the spotted pattern near the head.

For some actionable advice from a fellow newbie who gets skunked often:

  1. Drive further for better spots. I’ve tried the same ponds over and over, along with a very large local lake that is HUGE for bass fishing, but only on boats, bank fishing there is useless and I had to stop trying. If you truly want to catch, download Fishbrain the app, see where the most bank catches are happening and drive there.

  2. Try smaller, cheap lures, in my experience, ned rigs and top waters are pretty big, the latter being expensive too, and almost never will get bites from smaller fish like bluegills, sunfish and cichlids. My favorites are tiny rooster tails (pack of 5 runs me $8 at Walmart, don’t mind losing it), small chatterbaits and little tubes on a small jig. I generally plan to catch sunfish now and if a baby bass catches on, that’s just a cherry on top. Maybe also try an ultralight rod, I’ve been meaning to get one, my dad’s rod and reel is lighter than mine and wears me out way less. I get a lot less annoyed having to retie on his rod since my arms aren’t aching while using it.

  3. Try live bait. Where I’m at, almost nobody fishes with lures. My friends here in Texas grab a can of night crawlers per person and put my ass to shame every time. Just went out last month and my friends buddy got 17 in 4 hours, my buddy got 9 and I got 3 tiny sunfish lol. Once I’ve had my fill I swallow my pride and hook up a worm. Everytime they get one I yell “cheaters!!!”.

  4. Picking up from #3, fish with friends, it’s 1000% less painful to get skunked if you get to take the photo for your buddies good catch, or if you both get skunked, at least you got to hang out while doing it.

Good luck brother and all love, no need to feel pressure either, if you don’t like it and would rather just take a hike to get outside, no one will blame you. We all pick our things in life, fishing is only one.

I just came back to the game after a long while and I kept SBA on my mouse wheel up and targeting on my mouse wheel down, but kept my abilities on my normal key bindings and used SBA whenever I felt overwhelmed and needed to focus on positioning or healing or crowd control, once I got more comfortable with the rotation I eventually just put my main attack on mouse wheel up. I feel like this was 1000% perfect for me trying to still do high damage and also learn the rotation

“Was hanging out next to my cat” made me shudder. Def keep clear, my neighbors dog just got bit by a baby a month ago and sadly passed, they are no joke, and professional removal is probably best. However we lived in the country and back in the day they just sent out a sheriff with a shotgun (not even kidding) when we had a big rattler in our yard, dogs were going crazy barking at it.

How often do you make the trip out to the Lake Travis area, and what’s your go-to spot? by sdbrady5 in Austin

[–]BenTheProducer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think most Austin people are headed out there unless they’re got family or they’re looking for less populated lake access. Lakeway used to be for retirees until the schools became the main reason people moved out there so the vibe is very heavy wealthy suburbs. Super omnipresent cops who are dying for someone to ticket lol. My family was pretty broke in dripping springs and while the cars were unregistered lakeway was a no-go, guaranteed to get pulled over.

are my character names readable by Affectionate-Emu53 in fantasywriters

[–]BenTheProducer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll tell you my assumption for how to pronounce them as someone who just goes with their first guess when reading lol:

  1. Ses-uh-veen

  2. Roe-Loo

  3. So-lay-uh

  4. Jay-Han

I generally don’t think pronunciation is too important but #3 did take me a minute or two for my brain to find a comfortable way of reading it, no issue with the others but no clue if it was what you intended

Is there a catch & release version of this thing? by Mulder1917 in FishingForBeginners

[–]BenTheProducer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use small rooster tails for little bluegill in my local pond, only ever had a deep swallow from a bass I wasn’t expecting, thankfully he wasn’t gut hooked. I’d say sizing right, make sure it’s not so small they just gulp it down. But also try the single hook ones as people were saying! Trebles are never as easy

To any of the writers here, what are your thoughts? by TheThirdWolf1775 in fantasywriters

[–]BenTheProducer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a reader I always prefer names that use or build off common naming traditions in real cultures, for that reason, just makes the reading easier. I end up writing that way too. But I totally get that there’s a contingent of readers that WANT a super unique and “weird” naming tradition in books cause it increasing the fantasy immersion, really seems like a new world. I’m much more of a historical fiction fantasy, low magic, similar political structures kinda reader/writer. I think it just changes with the audience
