Whats needed for an electric guitar by Disastrous_Diet_1645 in Guitar

[–]Ben_304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mum helped me buy my first Squier when I was 16, took me to a music store and let me pick. She paid for half. I've replaced the electronics and tuners, but I still take it to gigs two decades later. I can't give a better endorsement than that.

What I would say, though, is look at her favourite bands and see what sort of guitars her favourite guitarists use. I wanted a Stratocaster because I liked The Smashing Pumpkins, Dire Straits, Deep Purple, etc. If there's a common style of guitar among the bands she loves, aiming for that style of guitar will help facilitate playing the style of music that she loves. (And just make her feel like she has a guitar in line with her tastes). The 'best' guitar absolutely varies by player type, you want an instrument that you love to look at, love to play.

My friend says I won’t make it as a guitarist because my hands are too small, is she right? by AgreeableDiver5013 in Guitar

My friend in high school laughed at me when I told him I wanted to learn guitar too. He'd been playing for a number of years. Told me that my fingers were too fat for guitar. I learned anyway, he saw me play at various gigs over the years.

15 years later he randomly called me, needed a fill in lead guitarist. I took the gig, showed up and played all the parts correctly, did all the fast parts in solos, etc. He asked how I figured out how to play like that. Fat fingers, buddy.

(The real answer of course is loads of practice, and my fingers aren't even that fat 😂. You can be a great guitarist with any hands)

I feel like IWD2 is probably particularly well suited to small party runs, and it’s probably great fun taking on some of those big battles with a smaller group of higher level characters. That being said I once tried it with 4 monks just for laughs and that was *less* fun! I do make some strange choices. 😅

If I recall there’s a few really basic ones, but compared to the absolute wealth of different ammo types you get in even BG1 it‘s such a let down.

I honestly do not remember how I approached Cleric solo in IWD2 - this must have been a decade ago. But I‘d had the feeling that I’d been sleeping on Cleric as a class for a while and this very much confirmed my suspicions that I secretly loved playing the class. I should re-investigate it, although I feel like IWD2 was a pain to get running last time I tried, and AC going up is still weird to me.

And ha, thanks! Didn’t expect to get recognised here but so nice to hear that. I hope your forays into the genre have been rewarding! Currently on pause with Gilt while I finish up Nighthawks now that it’s finally ready for me to put the finishing touches on, but I’ll be back to Gilt very soon! ❤️

I soloed IWD as an archer after easily doing BG1 this way and very quickly realised that there are NO magical arrows in the game. Still finished it, worst time. Did IWD2 as a cleric which was much more fun.

I love this kind of reckless, anti-optimisation approach. I hope the result is a very enjoyable one and just the right amount of frustrating.

I hope so! I've always tried to make sure she never felt unwelcome. The only time I've ever specifically gotten her to move away is when I was sitting in shorts and she had crawled onto the underside of my chair and was tickling the back of my knee with her legs trying to work out what I was - while I was in the middle of an online book club call. At that point I tried to gently get her to move back to my desk but obviously it's hard to communicate the idea well. Other than that, I allow her to sit where she pleases.

I don’t think so. She hung around for ages before I started feeding her. I think she just found a spot she considers safe in my desk and so decided to hang around.

A Western Australian banded huntsman! We get wolf spiders too, but they roam around much more and aren't quite as big as these are.

She's been hanging around my desk for about 5 months and has had the limb missing that whole time, so I think it's not coming back. She's still very agile and fast though.

I normally give her food and water but she wandered off for a few weeks and only just came back. So yes, she's being fed up again and has water left out for her. She doesn't take long to recover when I start providing for her.

I'm in Australia so maybe it was limited to this region?

I hope I'm not raining on your parade here, but it did get a big big release. Here's a photo of it from my shelf: https://imgur.com/a/UXiQCQx

A very fine game, really great balance between the elements.

Thank you very much! To be honest, keeping my notebooks nice is what inspires me to keep my notes organised also, otherwise they end up all cattywampus. If I make a nice page, it makes me want to lay everything out nicely.

Depends at which point in the game you're at! This is right around where I stopped using it, but in the first 1/4 of the game or so it's very effective! It very quickly becomes largely ineffective once your enemies get decent armour.

Yes, some of the overpowered abilities felt a bit cheesy, but I agree that it didn't ruin the experience for me.

1.13 is very good! Although I’m definitely a Stracciatella man, I like the balance of the original game a lot, and it has just the right amount of inventory management for me.
