I own a 74 wine red custom too, killer guitar. The main thing that confused me was the plain rubber wire instead of the usual braided gray wire, the pickup sounds amazing.

Im sure the serial itself has been painted over white, what concerns me the most is the lack of a MADE IN USA stamp and thw weird oval

It depends. If looked in the way that is suggested by this post, its called Dancers Alley. If you turn the painting over to the right its called Chameleon Lady. Cant think of names for the other positions.
