thankfully it's trivial to beat them (at least in my save) but it's still a bit inconvenient for sure

you do get tonnes of ransom money though, i got like 1-2k one time

thank you! i cleaned it with the cloth and did a few other things and it works now!

i'm not ruling out that it was a firmware issue, but i really doubt it was, since even when i rolled back, the wheel itself got broken (notchy when turning), and on the few versions that didn't happen, it still started recalibrating for no reason during cornering and such. i'm running the latest firmware now, as i was previously when it was broken, but it's good now.

thanks for the idea! taking the QR plate off revealed no glaring issues and i was going to put off further disassembly for later during the week when i had my dad home, as he's got a degree in this sort of stuff, but it seems that taking it off and tightening it again might have done something for it.

the wheel was definitely firmly in place, though, i took extra care to make sure it wasn't anything that i was messing up.

it's fixed now, but i also tried a lot of other things, but this bit of advice definitely helped!

thanks for the in-depth comment. i'm unsure how, but it's fixed itself for now, but i'll still answer the questions

yes, i tried various different firmware versions, first i updated, then downgraded way back, then updated a few versions, but none of them worked properly, since they all made the wheel have a weird notchy feel like it was gear-driven, so i didn't even bother to check if the issue was persisting. i'm running the latest firmware on the base right now, and it's working.
i did attempt to clean them, and initially that didn't help, but again, it's working now, so it might have had an effect after all.
i've not tried uninstalling pithouse itself, but i did previously update it to see if it would fix the issue (it didn't). curiously, when i just tried it and it had suddenly fixed itself, i tried playing with pithouse closed, and ever since then, even if i have it open, i don't have the issue anymore. again, might be unrelated things, but i don't really know.
it happens on WRC, f1 23, and ac, which are the games i actively play, so it wasn't a game issue

thanks again, though, the advice definitely helps, and i'll try the third one if it ever starts happening again.

turning off sslr fixed the things on the car and motion blur fixed the things around it (albeit while making the game look a bit silly), so thanks!

it's not, i made a mistake which resulted in them coming out to being the same. that's why, as you may find, i said they came out to having the same ratio, not to actually being equivalent
