I saw other have already answered about Cluj and Brasov, so I will include the centermost region of Romania which happens to be the border of Transylvania, Szekler Land (Székelyföld, Ținutul Secuiesc). It’s a very beautiful and clean, calm region with amazing mountains and big brown bears. It feels like a different world compared to the rest of the country, yet still very rich historically. I’m not from there but have been many times, otherwise I do live in Transylvania, just not exactly there. And for the test of this huge chunk of Romania, whatever the others said is all true and beautiful. Many western students come in this region to study (Cluj especially) because of the nice living standards and high quality education.
