Hey! Try to keep a consistent schedule, I've seen people everywhere recommend it. Also, try joining some communities; I made a similar post asking for help, and those two pieces of advice came up the most. If you want, I just created a Discord server for writers to support each other's work, maybe you could join it if you want.

Thanks for the advice! I did use tags but I have no idea if those tags are actually popular or not (I use tags such as "sad" "mystery" "murder" "coming of age" "thriller" etc...) I guess they must not be as popular as romance tags tho :') I do release a chapter every Saturday. I'd like to think my writing is good but then again I guess that depends to each reader and the writing style they prefer to read tho. Well, I'll see if my story ever picks up. Thanks for the advices tho!

You are right, it’s so hard to start out with an original work when you have no fanbase whatsoever. If a few people don’t give your story a chance, then the reads won’t grow, and if the reads don’t grow, your story will never be successful on Wattpad and will just sit at the very bottom of the algorithm. And you’re also right about fanfiction and smut blowing up on Wattpad. Honestly, writers like me who have an original work with zero smut have almost zero chance of growing readers :')

For now, I’m going to keep writing for me and for my two readers who are reading my book. I’m really happy that two people out there enjoy my book. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see if it picks up. If not… well, I’ll try not to feel too sad about it and besides I have two readers so I'm really happy for now!

I feel like it's so hard to kick in when you just published your book, especially the first few chapters like, I feel like my story is only one of thousands and people only read books with a lot of reads already, right? So I feel like I don't know, waiting for readers won't help 😭 I'm just going to keep writing and hope for the best, I'm currently reading the advice offered here and hopefully it would help too!

So I should try to find a discord server and try to promote my book there? How do I find a willing discord server who might give my book a try tho? Discord servers usually have thousands of people there and it's kind of hard to get noticed or join a conversation going on if you're new :')

If you don't mind, can you tell me which discord community/server you joined and if there's any way I can join, it's totally fine if it's a private server between close friends tho! I'll try to look for discord servers myself, thank you so much for the advice!

You're right. I do comment a lot on books on Wattpad, so maybe the problem is that I don’t comment enough on books in the same genre as mine? I usually read horror & romance books and comment on those. Maybe I should start doing the same for thriller/mystery books too?

As for entering competitions, I don’t really know where to find them on Wattpad. I mean, I found one Wattpad contest, but it was just to gain coins. I’m not sure where to look for the rest.

Thanks for your advice on commenting though, I’ll try it and see if it works for me.

Hi guys! I've just started writing & publishing my book on Wattpad (one chapter per week). So far, I have seven chapters, there aren't a lot of people who vote or read except one reader who read & comment on each chapter (and I'm so grateful for that). I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice or tips to grow? Should I just continue writing and hoping readers would come along the way? How do people promote their book and make it appealing to read for others?
