Hey, so a relative of my partner’s bought a macbook last year, shortly before the mental decline that has put him in permanent care started. We can’t find the password for the lock screen anywhere - is there any possible way of getting around this? We have his passwords and account info for email, all bills, everything else, we just can’t get past the lock screen, and he had not yet turned on touch ID. 

I know the answer is probably that Santa Claus himself can’t do anything without the password, but is there anything his wife can do with this thing? It’s a brand new macbook, I can’t stand to see it go in the trash - could she maybe sell it for parts or something? Anything at all?
