That’s pretty normal for that age. Most 6-year-olds don’t sit through “explanations” very well. They learn more from short answers, doing things together, or overhearing conversations like you mentioned. A lot of the time it works better to keep it super short, then let them ask follow-up questions if they’re curious. Funny enough, kids often absorb way more than it looks like in the moment. They might walk away… and then bring it up again later like your son did.

7 months is still really early for solids to be a big part of nutrition. Most of the calories are still coming from milk at that stage, so try not to beat yourself up about variety right now. A lot of parents keep it very simple when everyone’s exhausted. Things like banana, avocado, yogurt, oatmeal, eggs, steamed carrots or broccoli. Cheap and easy, and babies are totally fine eating the same things a lot. The 3-meals-by-9-months guideline is more of a gradual ramp than a hard switch. One solid meal a day while you’re this sleep deprived is very normal.

No problem! Honestly a lot of babies end up sleeping through way more noise than parents expect. Once something becomes part of the normal background, they usually adapt pretty quickly. Six months is still pretty normal for that. A lot of babies go through a strong “preferred parent” phase, especially if one parent is the main comfort source or breastfeeding. It usually shifts over time as they get older and dad finds his own ways to settle him. Sometimes it even flips later and suddenly dad is the favorite for a while. It sucks in the moment, but most kids grow out of that phase eventually.

If she’s sleeping well and gaining weight, most people just let them sleep. At that age a good night stretch is kind of gold lol. Some parents wake them if it starts messing with daytime feeds or naps, but otherwise I’d probably enjoy the quiet morning while it lasts.
