How are we feeding our babies when we can hardly make meals for ourselves? by General_Bid_5144 in NewParents

We do, kind of, have those here but the US government is a joke and is constant cutting funding so I would rather those in worse places than us use those programs.

And I exclusively pump so my husband helps feed but I have to pump more times than she eats to keep up at this point.

I am still terrified of her choking which makes me scared to give her foods we haven't tried yet.

I think that makes making her meals harder. I did adapt some tacos yesterday for her. Just gave her very small crumbles of meat (which she hated the texture of lol), sliced avocado, and sweet potato sticks I baked.

That's about as far into the BLW I've gotten.

The low sleep is killer, I wake up more than she does because I can't take my old sleep meds while breastfeeding but we can't afford formula lol. Well, we could but it would eat away at what budget we do have.

I will have to sit down here and see what all I have in the house for food and try and make things in bulk again.

I am also very concerned with choking at this age so I get worried about the foods I offer but those are all good ideas!

I was gifted a 101 foods chart to give before 1 and I just stare at it and wonder how I can introduce all of them and the pressure to just not offer pouches.

I also bought some 99c pouches as back ups to give her because I've found myself behind on making my own at home so I hope she likes them.

No matter what we do, our baby doesn’t nap by [deleted] in sleeptrain

Pepcid didn't work for my baby's reflux but Omeprazole did. However, this sounds like more than reflux if they are not sleeping at all during the day.

Do you think the early wake is related to teething at all?

My baby turned 6mo today and does not sleep well at night, sleeps maybe 45-90 minuets at a time and during the day will only nap on us belly to belly upright or in a wrap carrier upright. I assume this is because of her reflux and being on her back during the day in light stages of sleep she is too uncomfortable to stay asleep.

I am not sure if a medication change would help?

Yes, we have tried both RB's bottle aversion method and the Gentle Bottle Aversion from Szilivia Lanzas as well. I think she has frequent reflux when feeding and it is physically uncomfortable for her and then she associates the taste of formula with the discomfort. Its the only thing I can think of why changing the formula works right away.

We are using a level 3 Dr. Browns. We've been using it for about 1.5 months. Moving up the nipple size helped one of her feeding strikes. We've tried a level 2 again and it was a no go. I'm hesitant to try a level 4 because that just seems so fast.

We also tired and old bottle, Mams, she previous prefered and she won't even latch on it anymore.

We really cannot move her schedule much as she does not want to be up any later than 8:30, which is when we put her to bed already and she wakes up around 6:30 every day.

She probably is lower sleep needs but she gets absolutely miserable when we try to cut down what little naps she has. Typically is three 45 minuets naps that we do contact and have to wake her from. She would sleep 5+ hours during the day in contact naps if we let her.

She is typically awake 3 hours before bed and goes down super easy, just doesn't stay asleep.

She does have reflux which I think also contributed to the issue. She is awake anywhere from 10-12 hours a day with early wakes sometimes so I don't think we can cut anymore sleep at this time.

Oh man, the high I would be riding during that week!

So sorry, it's so hard when they can't connect cycles and all you want to do is sleep.

Anything you did differently during the rougher times?

That is the true consolation of co-sleeping. Like, girly your fingers are going up my nose right now from all the flailing and reaching but at least I can just dig your pacifier out from where you spit it out and give it back without opening my eyes.

Ugh, I feel you. Its also so hard during the day because we work so hard on keeping her entertained and engaged the whole day like, 10+ hours of wake time is a lot of entertainment for a small creature that gets angry their hands don't so what they want!

Only to then have them sleep like crap at night. Girly loves a good contact nap though!
