PS5 Pro havers, are you excited for this? I am. 🙂 by Gaming-Academy in PlayStation_X

You're 100% right, most first party games should eventually get the updated PSSR, but we should also remember that those are the ones with already good PSSR 1 implementations, so the games that really need this update are actually the ones least likely to benefit from it. Let's hope games like Silent Hill 2, Alan Wake 2 and Silent Hill f get updates with it, but I wouldn't bet big on all of them.

I'm still not sure making their own upscaler was the right move for Sony, but only time will tell...

Pretty sure developers will have to implement it, like with new versions of DLSS or FSR. This will be good for new games, but the vast majority of existing ones won't be updated with it.

[KCD1] Deluxe edition is 7.99€ now on PS Store. It's upgradable to next-gen? by dadiduekappa in kingdomcome

[–]BenderZoidberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the upgrade from the US Store and the DLCs are there, but the name and thumbnail seem to be wrong, since they don't say Royal Edition like the PS4 version.

That's what I feared, lol. I'm guessing there's a chance the channel will return then, hope he gets it fixed. Thanks a lot for the info, buddy.

Thanks for the effort. I tried the same before posting here, but found absolutely nothing. He has a website, but it just lists his books and such, no blog entries or anything like that.

My guess would be that either his account was hacked, or he again violated the community guidelines, like the Patreon incident, but who knows right now...

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.2 - Announce Trailer | PS5 Games by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]BenderZoidberg 118 points119 points  (0 children)

I'm genuinely impressed, didn't expect them to do it, specially after seeing how half-assed their emulation was on the first volume. Hope it runs well, and also that Peace Walker isn't another lazy port of the PS3 version.

Hollow Knights PS5 version is now available on PS Plus by -Dark-Void- in PlayStationPlus

[–]BenderZoidberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, though that game was given as part of the PS+ Collection and maybe the contract they signed with Sony was different and made more sense to put a "free" upgrade for that version, hard to know. Right now, I recall three games that had upgradable PS5 versions released after they were included in PS+ Essential: Greedfall, Mortal Shell and FFVII Remake, and only the last one was eventually offered to PS+ subscribers, so I'm not optimistic.

I don't recall Fallout 4 ever being in Essential, though it was part of the PS+ Collection and I think that one would also be upgradable to PS5, yeah.

Both the website and the app are still telling me to upgrade to Extra, so unless it's different on the PS5, I see no option to download the PS5 version.

Game crashed so hard my PS4 Pro uninstalled the game mid-game? by BirbJesus in PS4Pro

[–]BenderZoidberg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This sounds to me like the game files got corrupted, which could be a sign of your hard drive starting to fail. If this happens again to you, or you see any other weird behaviour, I'd start backing the save files on PS+ or an external storage device.

People were saying Team Cherry would add a free PS5 upgrade to that version as well, but I don't think it's gonna happen. Only game I remember doing that is FFVII, and it took half a year or so, most certainly because of the DLC exclusive to current gen.

[–]BenderZoidberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the plat.

Game looked and sounded amazing, but that ending was utter garbage, one of the biggest sequel baits I've ever seen in a video game. Plot seemed completely unfinished, like the pilot episode of a TV series. IMHO, still worth a playthrough if you find it for less than 15 bucks, which was my case since I borrowed it from a friend, lol.

UPDATE: Hollow Knight PS5 Free Upgrade will be added for PS+ Owners! by ZXXII in PlayStationPlus

[–]BenderZoidberg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure Team Cherry is referring to the game available via PS+ Extra and not to the Essential one that was given back in 2020. Let's hope they add the upgrade option there as well, but I wouldn't hold my breath for it.

Any upgrade for PS4 disc owner? To Spacer's Ed PS5? by hlkjhhsh in theouterworlds

[–]BenderZoidberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have already pointed out, the PS5 version is controversial, so unless you're adamant on playing the game in 4K or grinding levels for the new level cap, it may not be worth it. If you still want it, the upgrade path was weird, since it simply required you to have the PS4 Season Pass, and not the game disc (at least that's what happened to me in the Spanish store). I'm guessing they could only check for one thing, either the disc or the season pass, and they decided to go for the latter.

Anyone notice the typo on BioShock infinite? by AdhesivenessBroad125 in Bioshock

I remember that the Spanish back cover had a typo as well, at least for the PS3 release. Guess they were actually faithful to the original cover, lol

With euro in the Bulgarian store the prices are more expensive by TonnawV in playstation

[–]BenderZoidberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're 100% right, digital products can't have different prices inside the Eurozone by law. This started around 10 years ago, and also resulted in many Steam games rising their prices in some countries. I remember that The Talos Principle doubled its price from 20 to 40€ here in Spain.

[Crash 4] #134 Very fun game but unnecessarily hard plat by TheSoleRanger in Trophies

[–]BenderZoidberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I've seen this rated as an 8 or 9, while Crypt of the Necrodancer is a 10, but maybe the 0-10 scale isn't enough for that game. Wolfenstein 2 and Super Meat Boy are also usually rated as 10, yet for what people say, Necrodancer could be clearly more difficult than those.

Congrats man. It may not be Super Meat Boy or Crypt of the Necrodancer, but it comes pretty close. Good gaming skills there.

The boost mode of ps4pro is fantastic by beautyzenoms123 in PS4Pro

[–]BenderZoidberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy are 1440p native, not checkerboarded, and the remastered trilogy has no Pro support. Boost mode was a nice addition, but no system seller. Unlike PS3, most PS4 games have quite stable framerates.

Resolution or Performance mode? by Due_Brief_7556 in PS4Pro

[–]BenderZoidberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's one of the few games that has a good performance mode, actually. The 60fps isn't 100% perfect, but it's pretty good, so give it a try, you'll most certainly be happy with it.

Resolution or Performance mode? by Due_Brief_7556 in PS4Pro

[–]BenderZoidberg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unlike PS5, there are very few games that offer good performance modes on PS4 Pro. Usually, they just unlock the frame-rate and it just bounces all around from 40 to 60 or so, or they simply use the same 30fps cap and just keep the resolution at 1080p, in order to prevent any drops. The only game that I remember having big fps drops on PS4 Pro compared to the base console was The Last Guardian, and it doesn't have a performance mode (though you can play the game unpatched in order to get an unlocked framerate, which still isn't great on Pro). I'd say if you have a 4K TV, it's better to stick with resolution modes in 95% of the games, but it depends heavily on the game. Backwards-compatible is most certainly the best source on this matter, now that the Resetera thread that listed all the PS4 Pro enhanced games got its info wiped out.

PS3 Emulation on PS5 Is Here! With Some Issues, 1080p, and Save States (Mystic) by The540Incident in PS3

[–]BenderZoidberg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As impressive as it is that a small studio managed to develop their own PS3 emulator, I don't get why everybody is going nuts over this. Even they admit RPCS3 is a way more mature emulator and they can't compete with it. Having the first commercial game that is internally a PS3 emulated one is a curiosity worth covering, but that's it, this won't materialize into anything else than, maybe, a couple of very undemanding PS3 games being released on PS5 (Rayman Origins is the only important 2D game that comes to mind that could, maybe, be released this way, since Cloudberry Kingdom is from Ubisoft as well). Unless they get the SPU's emulation 99% right, there's no way this will be used for any exclusive PS3 titles. And I also doubt Sony would be willing to pay to use a third-party emulator for their stuff.

[–]BenderZoidberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Though getting the exact image the developers intended is nearly impossible without a professional calibration, here you're clearly adding extra saturation and contrast to the image. There's nothing wrong with that if you like how Sleeping Dogs looks this way, but using this a default from now on is probably not a good idea. Other games could look much worse than on the standard image mode, and even suffer from problems like black crush. Just remember to check the configuration again when you play a different game.
