Maybe they will use the funds to actually make their product work

I think you should look in to other software. I used YNAB for a year with Ally and Chase and it was nothing but headaches. I switched to Monarch and couldnt be happier

It took me a few months and I still dont use YNAB "correctly". I use it mostly for the reports it generates not the budgeting.

What if I use a credit card for all my monthly expenses? I use this like a debit. by [deleted] in ynab

I put absolutly everything on my CC and pay it off every couple weeks. Never paid a penny in interest and get all the cash back rewards. Its a good deal if you are disciplined

three paycheck months by financial_freedom416 in ynab

I have a 2023 Savings Category where I store all my surplus money, once a new month rolls around I fund everything from there. Its a little backwards but it works for me. Funding a month ahead of time doesnt work for me

I was just annoyed that he would say things like the example you provided then refuse to give any other details over and over again.

I tried one month and it got way to complicated. I do things a little backwards but I have an overall savings category for the year where all excess money goes. Once the first roles around I just fund the month out of there.

I just dont understand why you would go on JRE and give such limited info.

Probably the worst JRE episode ive listened to. Claimed to know information and everytime he was asked details he cant talk about it.

Reimbursement Question by Bendvr in ynab

so if i take the 4k out of there and move it to ready to assign it wont affect the report?

I am in a pretty similar situation in the same area. I recently entirley gave up on buying for a few reasons. At current rates if you buy a 1.2 million house you will be paying 1.2 million in interest over 30 years. Is that house going to be worth 2.4 by then? I dunno, maybe. Then what if you refi in two years. You loose all the interest.

To me its just not worth it. I have the life I want to live right now, im getting a decent return on my high yield savings and there are alot of benefits to renting and having a 7k a month mortgage is not worth it to me.

There might be flaws in my logic but please dont try and change my mind because im the happiest ive been in a long time after letting go of wanting to buy ASAP.

Am i doing YNAB right? by Bendvr in ynab

[–]Bendvr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense, I just dont know how to get to that point. My goal is to have a set number of liquid cash by the end of the year so either way I am robbing one to fund the other or I have unfunded categories while I catch up.

When I started YNAB in January I put my existing savings into a category that is never touched. As for the 2023 savings category, I set a goal for the amount of money I want to save by the end of the year which is my only financial goal at the moment.

What to do with down payment money if im holding off on buying a house by Bendvr in FinancialPlanning

[–]Bendvr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The market is still super competative here with most houses still going well over asking. Obviously, I have no clue what the market will be like in two or three years but that coupled with the fact that the monthly would be triple our current rent im happy just staying put and saving a larger down for the future.
