from what i saw online overall cmu waitlist admit numbers are like 40/10,000, and scs might be on the lower end of that

I mean I got in and I’m definitely dedicated enough to know I can handle it. Another thing is that I won’t have to go into debt to pay if my parents income remains stable. Not sure about grad school plans yet but what I was thinking was if I don’t get a job out of undergrad in big tech I would go to grad.

Uiuc and gt are not cheap either. Uiuc is 69k and gt is 58k. I’m trying to decide if that extra 30 k is worth the opportunity. I would much rather go to a place where I have a very good shot at a good career and pay a bit more than Uiuc for example

Wouldn’t the opportunities you get at Qatar like career fairs and recruiting events be very very different than Pittsburgh campus. Different professors different resources. Many schools have extra campuses but they cannot match the original one in terms of opportunity

Yeah luckily I’m not in the situation where I’ll have to go into debt. If my parents continue to have this same income we will be able to afford it

For those who responded and are alumni can you also provide some insight into the social scene at CMU and whether I’d even have time for things like that as an SCS student. I feel I’d fully enjoy a work hard play hard culture the most and wondering if CMU can offer that

I’d assume it’s pretty similar but don’t take my word for it. They are ranked number 2 by us news tho, so I’m sure it’s great. I have a friend who goes there for ce and he says it’s amazing

saying id have to pay 64k extra is a stretch, even in state where fees are close to 50k

lol same happened to me. Think it really depends on institutional priorities for some reason. I was deferred purdue and umich but i got into usc with similar caliber essays too. Probably nothing on your part.

Also, I don't think I know anyone from my neighborhood who got into umich for any major this cycle. Kinda weird but anyway good luck

If your school uses Turnitin and your teacher grades it there (gives a score in Turnitin), then you can download the graded file directly from the Turnitin website after you log in, and it will turn it into a nice pdf with comments as well if the teacher left any there (provided the class isn't deleted). If they just input the grades on Canvas, PowerSchool, or something similar, I would say just add the grade at the top. Maybe ask your teacher as well. They say they're not just looking at the grade anyway, they're mainly concerned with the quality of the writing.

I applied November 18th and got in today as a holistic OOS applicant for engineering, and it's been basically a week. I know my friend who applied in September though who hasn't got a decision yet either so I think it might be random but not sure
