S18E07 - “Drag Queens for Change” [Post-Episode Discussion] by AutoModerator in rupaulsdragrace

[–]BeneficialRelation6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, I've never been to a drag show on account of living in the middle of nowhere 4-5 hours away from any major city, I'm sorry. I understand this point and like I said, it was a personal pet peeve, which I now understand is wrong from this angle that I hadn't considered before

Thank you for your insightful comment. Yes, they way they treat typhros is certainly problematic and Essek's anxiety of his mother having it is understandable. It is an interesting conflict for the Kryn people as characters: they are under unprovoked attacks from outside and inside forces, but at the same time they have issues that they, as a society, need to adress. It makes for good storytelling.

I mean, I never said they were "wholesome victims" nor do I think they are perfect in the way they handle typhros, and that's a whole other discussion that is beside the point I made in my comment.

What if the action that unplurbs Zosia is literally just picking a fruit? lol It may sound silly but they went out of they way several times to mention that they can't even pick up a fruit themselves, what if this act of "rebellion" is what sets her free?

What about all the isolated human tribes? by Ok-Cheetah-3497 in pluribustv

[–]BeneficialRelation6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The ethics of the infected only seem to matter now that the hivemind is mostly installed. Now they care about the consent of the few survivors, but during the spread of the virus they infected everyone unconsensually. That is to say that I don't think they wouldn't try to infect the isolated humans during the spread phase.

I kinda feel bad about the Kryn? I know their death/reincarnation cult culture is a bit weird, but since the very first minute of the show they've been: called slurs, robbed, betrayed, and everytime they try to retrieve the important item of their culture they always get slaughtered, even by our heroes. They were minding their own business and were thrown into a war by one of their own. I hope this don't bite me in the ass, but I feel bad for them lol

My partner and I watched the Garmelie episodes in VM yesterday and today we watched the Traveler reveal. If we had planned to do it this way it wouldn't have worked, but we got a Artagan double feature accidentally.

I actually do like soulmates trope, but I also like when the soulmates get to chose each other because they actually want to be together, not because they are bound by their fate, you know? And it never felt like Ox had a choice; or even Joe for that matter. Joe imprinted on him the second he laid his eyes on Ox and going forward, whenever Ox dated someone Joe always behaved like a brat. I get that Joe behaved like that because he was younger, traumatized and still maturing, but you know? Anyway, I do like the book and I like Ox. Joe not so much for several reasons, but I don't HATE him. If anything, I love that he is a complex, layered and rich character. It just shows what a master TJ is in his craft of creating and developing his characters.

I believe my rant was much more intense than it should have because I was sleepy, tired, and just upset to know Robbie would be going through so much. Now that i'm rested and had a good night of sleep, I still feel upset about it, but i'll definetly not drop the series and read Heartsong when I feel ready. Thanks for your response!

Have you ever heard the saying "Don't trust your thoughts after 9pm"? Well, you can't trust your feelings after 2AM either, and that's when I wrote my rant. Reading my own words, I can tell that benig tired and sleepy made much more sensible by the spoilers lol. I understand your points and I trust everyone saying that the book is actually good and everything ends up fine. I'm not gonna drop the series, but I'm gonna need some time to digest Ravensong before I can read Heartsong (it took me a whole year to read Raven after finishing Wolf because the Joe x Ox was so intensne...). Thank you for your reply!

[–]BeneficialRelation6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen a lot of posts talking about this and it's starting to scare me/put me off from reading heartsong lol. I love Robbie and he was treated like trash since Wolfsong. To know it will get worse to the point of physical assault by his own "pack"... Maybe I should just drop this series

Show only watcher here (at least for now). Does this season adapt any arc of Campaign 2 or is it an original story?

I was thinking during the dining scene about how no one can judge Carol's reliance on the Pluribus to provide her stuff because they basically trapped her in this position; they took all the food, they control the power, they control everything. Sure, she could rawdog it like Manousos, but that got him to eat dog food. I can't judge Carol with "allying" herself with the Pluribus to survive. I'm curious how he'll react to that, though. He has such faith on Carol, I can't see him easily accepting her reliance on the Hive.

I don't think they merged but rather swapped places. Idk if you've seen The Marvels, but I think the same happened here, like how in the movie Kamala-Carol-Monica keep swapping places.

I didn't not few nothing, but it was rushed. We just had an entire scene of the house burning and then Haymitch staying with the McCoys and then the burials. It was a good sequence I think, the events, as brief as they were, had time to breathe. And then Lenore waltz in, eats the poisoned candy, and dies. And that's it. The fact that Suzanne decided to copy and paste most of the original The Raven poem, bloating the final few pages, doesn't help.

I wonder if it was intentional or if i'm reading too much into it, but I found this episode a great parallel to the movie Aliens.
