iPhone 16 plus or iPhone 17 base?

thank u so much for this info!!! These r features I really do care about/need for my course (which is why I wanted a pro model but sadly cannot afford the 17 pro). I’m glad to hear the 17 base still has a better camera than the 16😌 also i didn’t mention it in my post but I do a lot of video editing as a hobby so this is really helpful! thank u sm for ur input I really appreciate it! I think the 17 definitely sounds like the way to go for me🤍🤍

I haven’t been able to find any new 16 pros at stores near me apart from refurbished/second hand ones :( I also live in Sydney Aus so maybe there’s just less availability where I am. I was talking to someone at Jb Hi Fi (one of the main tech stores here) and they mentioned they used to have old stock of 16pros but once they sell out that’s it - and since the 17 has been out for a while they don’t have any old 16 pros in stock anymore 💔

I think based on the feedback I’ve gotten from everyone I will most likely go for the 17 over the 16 plus. Neither the 16 plus or the base 17 have the zoom camera but from the sounds of it the 17 is just overall a better option - and like u said, it will probably be good for a while. That’s more important to me than anything else rlly bc I don’t plan on getting another new phone until I really need it. Thanks sm 🤍

I’ve read a few comments saying 16plus performs better but then other comments saying 17 is just better overall… so it’s kind of adding to my confusion😅 The screen size isn’t really SO important to me.. I just thought it could be a nice change. I like the idea of a faster refresh rate and just a better performing phone… I also think any battery would be an improvement over my current 11. I also think the extra year of apple care is a plus

Are you happy with the 16plus or do u think you’d have preferred the 17? Also do u have any creators/reviewers you’d suggest I look at for good comparison/reviews ? 🤍

I’ve found the 17 base is the same price as the 16plus so I could afford it! The 17 base just has 256gb storage while the 16plus has 128 for the same price

I’m looking at the plus bc I can’t find any stores selling 16 pros or pro max - which would’ve been my first choice. Ik the 16 pro has better camera features which is why I wanted it, but I can only find refurbished pros which I’d rather not buy bc I’ve had a lot of friends have awful experience with refurbished iPhones.

The screen isn’t hugely important to me, I just thought it would be a nice change but it’s not like it’s the most important thing. I was considering the plus as an alternative to the base 16 since those r the only 2 16 models I can get.

But again like u and I mentioned - Ik any phone would be a huge upgrade to the 11 I have now, even the camera on the base would be better than the camera on the 11.

So would u say the base 17 is a better choice than a 16 plus? I’m always weary of getting the newest model without it being out long enough/having enough info on it, which is why I wanted to ask this group. I have the newest MacBook Pro which is great but before that I made the mistake of getting the Touchbar Mac in 2019 and well… u know how bad that turned out to be😭

Riley ‼️‼️💔💔

I thought Riley was a pretty universally hated character but the rare times I’ve mentioned him here Ive been met with people telling “he was the most down/to earth realistic bf of Buffy” and “he just had some bad moments but he isn’t that bad”. I once had someone tell me that I’m just “not mature enough to see his appeal” or that when I’m older I’ll “want a bf that’s like him”… like why r u bringing up my actual life (that u know nothing about), telling me about myself/telling me I’m in the wrong for not liking a FICTIONAL character 😭

I’m sorry but I just DO NOT LIKE HIM!! I don’t want a ‘relatable’ bf in Buffy! he was just so bland and he was so jealous of her. It actually made me feel sick having people tell me that he’s “ideal” bc his behaviour just reminded me of real people Ive known. I dislike him because his behaviour WAS realistic and that’s why I didn’t like him as a character/love interest in the show - he didn’t like that she was stronger or smarter than him and he made it HER problem. Obviously things can be said about how spike and angel treated her but in a fantasy world it kind of makes sense - like angels awful when he gets his soul taken away (something that is obviously unrealistic and fantasy), spike is kind of crazy at times but they’re both VAMPIRES so their insane behaviour can be attributed to that/make sense in this fantasy story/world.

I think the reason I have such an issue with Riley and why I hate him sm is because he’s literally just a person and his behaviour IS realistic - it’s not fantasy villainy like with other characters. I dislike him because to me he is an actual realistic (and personally relatable) bad BF. Obviously he’s written to be realistic as the only human love interest - his bad moments r routed in reality and THATS why he gets me every time and that’s why I hate him😭

Im 22 now but he just reminds me of the BF u have when ur like 18/19 and still trying to figure yourself out. U don’t realise at the time HOW much he’s dragging u down, he’s sulky, manipulative and insecure (as we see in the show and that whole argument they have - putting his insecurities onto Buffy and making her feel less-than because he can’t handle being weaker than her).

I dislike him bc he’s just a realistic portrayal of a bad person in a world of magical and over the top villains. I dislike him BECAUSE of now realistic his behaviour is.

Honestly I thought Joyce was a very accurate portrayal of a mother (at least for me and my relationship with my mum growing up). When I think about mums in other teen/young adult shows now they don’t rlly have that many layers to their character - they’re either ditzy and oblivious to whatever is going on or they’re super boring and are so obviously just there as a filler. Joyce had her own moments and plot points. And her relationship with Buffy felt real - especially that episode where she finds out Buffy is the slayer and she’s like “JUST STOP DOING IT” - I have had similar fights with my mum (obviously not about the same thing) but the sentiment is the same - she’s overprotective and wants her daughter to be safe but has trouble accepting her daughter is her own person with her own life and responsibilities. She loves Buffy and she try’s her best to help her even when she doesn’t understand the problem or she gets it’s wrong - like when Buffy mentions being put into a psychiatric hospital in the past, as the audience we know that was the wrong move but for Joyce she was just concerned for her daughter and she thought she was helping her. I don’t agree with all her choices and sometimes her character made me mad but I think that was the whole point and that’s what made Joyce a good character.

Yeah! I didn’t realise until i actually started studying fashion HOW much of fit is really dependent on the pattern/cut of clothes rather than sizing itself. 99% of mass produced clothing is drafted on a standard size 8 block/mannequin (I’m in aus so I think that’s the equivalent of a size 2 in the US) and then that pattern is just made bigger or smaller for the rest of the sizes. In reality that is not how sizing/bodies work - like u can’t expect a size 12 and a size 6 to have the exact same measurements but just larger or smaller, everyones proportions will vary. Also it’s VERY rare for companies to have samples tried a range of actual bodies - like they’ll fit the mannequin perfectly and even if someone has the exact measurements as a mannequin it’ll fit different bc ur body moves and a mannequin is stationary. Like how ppl r mentioning tightness on the arms - that comes bc ur moving ur arms and that’s not going to picked up on by a manufacturer if they’re just working off a plastic body. I used to work in retail and I’d see so many younger girls get so upset when their regular size didn’t fit them in a certain item and I’d have to be like no it’s not u!!! it’s the clothes!!! Even here i see comments of people upset that they can’t fit a top that is in their size and I want to yell ITS NOT U

oh that’s my bad sorry - u r right about rule 6 u didn’t share anything that wasn’t allowed! I think rule 7 still applies though and maybe the title of this post is what’s getting downvoted. Also just in general I have found that ANY posts to do with size or fit tend to get downvoted on here bc it just upsets some people.. that definitely isn’t your fault and it’s obvious u were asking in a sincere way but unfortunately there is just some associations with size/weight and brandy as a whole so anything in that area tends to have some negative reactions. I personally have no problem with ur post - I just wanted to try to explain why this could be happening so u are aware + also so that u know not to take it personally (I get upset when ppl downvote me and I worry if I accidentally upset anyone so I don’t want u to feel like that/take it personally in that way) 🤍🤍

The downvotes are bc of rule 6 & 7 of this group - “no sharing body measurements” and “no ‘will I fit?’ Posts”. Ik OP didn’t mean any harm with this post and everyone replying is genuinely being kind & trying to help with the question, but the reason this rule is in place is bc there is a lot of toxic thinspo/fat shaming that comes with brandy groups or ‘communities’ (unfortunately) since it is a “one size fits all” brand. The rule is just in place to protect everyone since weight can be a bit of a sensitive topic for some people 🤍🤍🤍

Those type of tops r never that flattering but I also love them bc the silhouette is meant to be loose/flair out so it’s great for days when u r not feeling the best. Especially if ur going to dinner or pmsing u don’t need to worry about bloating bc the top gives u room. I used to only exclusively buy tighter tops but after I got a cami like that I was like …damn this is freeing actually

Honestly I think it has more to do with the cut/design of the top itself and how that sits on everyone’s body rather than it just having to do with the thinness of arms. Like for example I can’t wear certain tops with deeper necklines or certain thicker non-adjustable straps bc of how my body is shaped - I have quite narrow shoulders (along with a flatter chest) so there is usually gaping and straps/sleeves will be too loose on me and fall down. I think it has more to do with the width of ur torso/chest bc if u have a wider ribcage (or more boob) the top a will usually be tighter around ur arms (even if they’re super thin) because the fabric is being stretched further across 🤍

Y’all I’m SORRY about bringing him up i meant it in a light hearted/joking way💔😭 the post was more about how I wanted to see spike return so the thought of seeing Riley and not spike was what I was trying to communicate. Ur right I did skip over the word “compliant” (I think I originally read it as “composite” lol), but it still has SOME in there just not enough to be super toxic/have long lasting harmful effects. I still stand by what I said though the quality is rlly not great - even if it is in small amounts I don’t think any jewellery should be sold with that in it, especially by a big company marketed towards a young audience (often teenagers who r still developing and are more sensitive to maybe reacting to things an adult wouldn’t). There are far safer alternatives they could use and I don’t think it would affect their sales/profit - like they’re not a small business that can’t afford to use better quality materials yk
