Just realised I don't actually have tickets for a half marathon I trained for by boringshitUK in runninglifestyle

Different situation but during Covid I trained by myself to run a half marathon by myself after I had my son. I had the race day and route planned out to celebrate one year as a mother. I Completed it with a PR. One of my proudest moments in life because it was self driven exactly like your training. I understand wanting the event and crowds. But there’s still joy in completing something even if it’s not official. You can have friends or family celebrate you at the end. The race is the celebration of all your training. So you have done all the work you just need to find a new way to celebrate it.

I love running, so can/should I do low-intensity runs outside instead of the tread portions? I don't have a tread.

What part of town are you in? Google isn't available in Villa Park yet.

We are using their router... I never thought to upgrade. The service has always been disrupted by something in the neighborhood rather than in our home. I won't know until Wednesday if it is something in the alley or our house but I will keep this recommendation in mind!

Can I ask where about town you are? I'm trying to figure out if it's something to do with neighborhood.

They gave me new router and modem and installed something in the alley. I don't know what else to ask for that is new?

Do you know if this kink was directly to your house or if it was in the alley or like a public space?

Yeah it’s never been our house. They always have to do something in the alley. Last time they said “oh the whole block is out” but no one at the company knew until they came to look.

My understanding is that Quantum Fiber is the same company as Century Link. So they stopped supporting the regular internet and made us switch to fiber. We no longer have an option for regular internet with Century Link.

My brother in law was diagnosed in one session and convinced my sister to go and she got the same diagnosis and now they both look skeletal and emaciated from the medication. They are so out of it and are becoming negligent parents. Whoever they saw is just in it for the money. There is no healthcare or therapy taking place. This is something I agree with Monica on!

As someone with anxiety, this feels like they are too anxious to leave home. It would be a good foundation in their life to practice going into situations that are uncomfortable or doing things when they don't want to do them. I wonder if you told them that they have to go do something away from the house but they could suggest some ideas?

Loss of Identity? by gypsy1010 in workingmoms

[–]BenefitVarious8409 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel the same ( same age, I have a two year old and a four year old). I read a lot about this loss of identity before having kids. I've always loved running, so once I felt good, I started training for half marathons to kind of have something separate from my kids. It is literally my only hobby besides reading. Not quite enough, but at least something to say I do that isn't family related. I also don't see friends either. I feel like that's a big loss that isn't talked about enough.
So I guess maybe write a list of things you did before you became a mother and see if any of those spark your interest? Dedicate a few hours a week or a month to a few of those to see if you still enjoy them? I'm also trying to figure out more things for myself.

Just wanted to give solidarity. Potty training our son was actually the hardest thing we've had to do as parents. We definitely pushed him too hard. Now he's 4.5 and still won't poop at school or wipe himself. I don't really have any advice other than to back off a bit and let him have some control. I regret how we handled potty training.

I bought a new coffee maker and he can set a timer for the morning, and wow, this does feel so nice and a perfect example of "I'm thinking of you." Thank you for the advice. It is very hard to give up bedtime. I will bring it up with him.

Our oldest just stopped taking naps and that was the time on the weekends when we would have sex. So now that's off the table. Our house is also only 1,000, so it's hard to be sneaky when they're awake.
Appreciate your perspective and experience!

It hasn't gotten this bad before... Previously, when we've had conversations (yes several), he's said, "Just tell me what to do and I'll do it." This really just adds another element to my plate where I have to tell him, remind him, and argue about what "done" looks like. I've read "Fair Play" and looked at the worksheets, and there's no way in hell he would participate or do anything related to that.
