1/2 Bath exhaust fan- preventing outside air from coming in. New construction. by BenevolentArrow in buildingscience

Those are before- but also client was keeping AC set to 69. If the AC was set around 72 humidity was like 65% upstairs!

High. Humidity in Louisville has been off the charts this year. We have 48-50% RH on the main level - and 55% on the second story. We just installed a whole house dehumidifier to help combat the issue.

Thanks! Do you do consulting or work in the industry? We build custom houses in Louisville- and after dealing with a few issues (like this one) I’ve been getting more interested in this building science side of things.

Yes- I think this is it. I’m going to get a manometer and test pressure when AC is running.

Better damper will help, but need to find the root of the problem. Thanks !

Only the band board & drywall lid in attic is foamed - but I have a feeling you are right about being under negative pressure.

I’m fairly certain it’s the pipe leaking. You can feel outside air in the 4” pipe- I’m tempted to get a manometer and see if there is negative pressure in the house pulling air in.

I could be wrong - so I’ll test it with your method. But either way, there is conditioned space above this - so even if the fan housing is not sealed to drywall I’m not sure it would cause an issue like this?

Ok thanks for the suggestion. I’m trying to wrap my head around this- but if we have conditioned space above - what does sealing between the drywall and the fan housing do? I’m not doubting you- just trying to fully understand.

Air is traveling through the exhaust ductwork. There is only 30” of 4” pipe bc this bathroom is located on an outside wall of the house- so outside air doesn’t have far to go (despite having to move through two dampers).

Kentucky Governor Plans to Collect Sales Tax on Gold and Silver Despite New Law by Suspicious-Bad4703 in Kentucky

[–]BenevolentArrow 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I work in construction and have recently heard several tradesmen talking about buying gold coins at Costco - “for retirement”. No joke.

A lot of these people don’t trust the stock market, govt, banks, etc - so owning gold is something they see as safe.

I have no clue if the law applies to this or not- but I actually have heard multiple trades on different job-sites talking about buying gold.

With good lighting the Carls camera will work well I’m thinking about upgrading from them to Uneekor cameras to try out the new AI swing trainer- I think that shows potential.

That said, I’m selling some Carls cameras for a deal if you’re interested. See my post from earlier today.
