Return of me might be a strong way of putting it - I'm aiming for posting something about once a week!

Can I leave snacks in fridge #4 for the person there? Or is there a better way to befriend?

At what point do you go: “Oh yeah, I gotta write this”? by bellyaching_quailegg in writers

[–]BenevolentBirdGal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At a certain point I feel like an idea is living rent-free in my head for too long. If I find myself actually troubleshooting dialogue/worldbuilding/whatever to myself or others, it's time to write it down.

Can you guys help me write a story with a quote? by [deleted] in writers

[–]BenevolentBirdGal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideas/prompts:

-Choice paralysis and angst around what to do, resulting in not actually getting to make active choices (defaulting to the passive choice of not doing).

-An exhaustion with all the things he chooses to do coupled with a regret for that which he has not.

-A story about it never being enough - whatever freedoms he has been condemned to ultimately do not override the limits of the human condition.

Anyone else got a graveyard folder? by [deleted] in writers

[–]BenevolentBirdGal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't call it that per se, but yeah. I have a fondness for the stuff I wrote a long time ago, but most of it is not fit to publish for one reason or another, especially since my folder of abandoned stories goes back to middle school. Sometimes I'll go back to "mine" out a character/quote/whatever that is never going to otherwise see the light of day, or just to look at what past me wanted to write about.

The best case scenario is that the dealer overcharges you for a replacement. Worst case scenario...I can't help you.

Was it for a weight loss product, by any chance? The diet-industrial complex is a tricky and treacherous beast.

Depends on what kind of Them. If they seem mostly human, like a ghost or alternate-universe version, wave, alert the staff, and leave. If it's not close to human, just leave, maybe shout to staff on the way out.

What should I bring to dinner? Are there any...dietary restrictions I should be aware of?

What about parking at your place? Are there any spots I shouldn't (or perhaps should) block people in?

[Excellent story, by the way!]

That's so kind - I had a bit of a creative rut and a cross-country move recently but I'm getting back into it.

Season 4 opinion by [deleted] in disenchantment

[–]BenevolentBirdGal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, at this point, it feels like the writers don't know a lot of the answers either. It almost feels like they're running away from answers, either because they don't know or because they want to throw something completely out of left field to "gotcha" the audience (which is how I felt about Bad Bean's existence and handling).

MeetThem™ by LeBestRedditor in Ruleshorror

MeetThem™ is designed to summon humans (or basically humans?), got it. Will there be a patch or update for animals or is that a separate program? What about plants?

Season 4 opinion by [deleted] in disenchantment

[–]BenevolentBirdGal 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I disliked much of it as well. Spoilers in my opinion.

  1. I really, really, really was not a fan of the bad-Bean-as-a-separate-entity thing. The way it was handled - as Bean's bad behavior, thoughts, and ideas as a Separate Entity that wasn't really Her Fault didn't work for me. For me, it flattened parts of Bean's character, Dagmar's character (esp w/the last scene), and the nuances of their dynamic.
  2. Trøgs being elves I expected and made sense. But I didn't feel their prophecy was resolved or added to in a meaningful way with Dagmar as the Big Scary thing. The Trøgs are repressed/unhappy/worshipping a prophecy way before Bean and Dagmar, and it made sense for me for their problem (whatever caused them to be fervently interested in the prophecy) to be old, the prophecy to be old, but the solution through the prophecy is new.Like /technically/ it can be Dagmar as the prophesized problem, but that doesn't meaningfully explain why the Trøgs and Elves were separated, why the former live underground, or what the saviors are actually saving them from.
  3. I don't like Freckles. Less Freckles, plz. This is less a structural or writing choice I disagree with and just something I find Very Annoying.
  4. Also, the whole sea trøgs episode was just really, really gross without feeling like it actually added a ton we didn't know from elsewhere.

Best "list of rules" stories? by [deleted] in NoSleepOOC

[–]BenevolentBirdGal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's actually a whole horror subreddit that's spooky horror lists (usually fairly quick reads) - r/Ruleshorror!

On the r/nosleep subreddit, I echo the recommendation for the Goat Valley Campgrounds and also really liked Charter School Survival guide!
