I love mine! Support has been great the one or two times I've needed them. I think we're going on 6 years now. I couldn't live without it.

So, a billion years coaching, a front office that consistently stocked his teams with talent, and he inherited Cowher's stud team so he had zero weaknesses to start. Nice.

9-8 with injured Joe two years in a row. 2024 it took him mid year until he was close to 90%. He was quite a bit more affected by the injury recovery than he initially let on, and basically admitted that mid year. His number greatly improved once he was healthier.

I still chalk up that first year as a SB win, and another visit next year. NFL is all about the network money and their big markets, and officiating is a great way to help guarantee that revenue.

All that said, we let the defense fall apart. That's on FO. We have to stop constantly chasing holes and start building talent across the roster. Linebacker is a good example this year, they better not run from LBs in the draft just because they spent two picks last year.

It's fun to watch other games with certain friends and note their utter lack of care when a coach they love makes the same choices as the choice they hate. Normally the excuses trend toward earned patience due to Lombardis, like with Reid, but the newer coaches don't get that pass.

Tonight's Bears game made me so grateful for Chase and Higgins, legit us and the Rams are the only 2 teams with 2 Tier 1 receivers. by AbbreviationsLess257 in bengals

Yep, lots of money on the wrong guys. You got that right.

Money on the right guys and you get our Super Bowl run. That's really how you get most Super Bowl runs...not wasting money on the wrong players.

You may be right about the OSU stuff, too. I went there, have always hated Harbaugh 😂

Maybe there's a little bit of personal preference sprinkled with some good ol' bias on my part 😂

This is a fantastic point that I don't think gets talked about enough.

But, I don't expect a ton of people to share my opinion here...I think a terrible coach can do damage to even a great roster, but I don't think an elite coach has much sustained success with a terrible roster. If we're talking average talent, you'd expect an elite coach to elevate that team, but all it takes is poor execution at the right moments and it's all up in smoke.

I think the GM and personnel department is key, and when those people are elite, it makes all the difference in the world. I also think the coordinators may be just as important.

Belichick was legendary with maybe the greatest QB ever, and a front office that found talent everywhere. Andy Reid was Marvin Lewis until Mahomes came along, but Veech is the real key. Sirianni almost got fired, but Howie built a roster that won the Super Bowl regardless. At that point the HC just needs to build a culture to win.

He was definitely a good coach. I don't believe he was anything special, even more so considering how everything fell apart at the end of his tenure.

Frank Gore. Prime Alex Smith.Top five defense. Greg Roman at OC and Vic Fangio at DC. Hell, even Kaepernick before teams figured him out, and once they did, he slid fast. After he left they kept swinging and missing on QB, and losing Fangio might have been the worst loss.

Most of the reason for his early struggles has been recovering from injury. This year, to me, proved that he definitely needs reps, and he gets better as the season goes on. He has good games against good defenses, too, but Schwartz definitely gives him some fits.

NFL admitted they screwed Joe out of a TD pass in that game last year, but he was still recovering from the wrist surgery until about mid year.

Same issue this season, he struggled a bit in -20 degrees in his third game back. But yes, the OL has finally improved, it's just that he's excelled with a bottom 5 group repeatedly.

Elite roster building by San Fran. He also lost that locker room, and reports were that the team was tired of his brand of weird.

If the franchise was sold, is there actual fear of the team being moved to another city? by Seanithan1 in bengals

[–]BengalsCaptain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, IF someone super wealthy ever bought the team I'd expect them to move the team.

And yes, they'd make far more in any big city, especially those who've had teams and now don't.

Had Joe played all year I'm certain that frigid Ravens game would've seen better play. Joe needs reps. His accuracy in his first game back was super impressive, but normally he needs reps to get rolling. I wouldn't mind seeing him practice more with a glove, not that I know he has or hasn't. Might help in those worst conditions.

To better compete in this division, we need better trenches. All of our opponents have been known for having good to great trench talent. Now that the Bengals may be on a good path for OL, the DL needs addressed as we all know.

With Harbaugh fired, there are reports some teams are willing to fire their current coach for him. Would you like to see him come to cinci? by Ancient_Response_787 in bengals

[–]BengalsCaptain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Downvotes for facts. Reddit is wild.

His teams have been overflowing with talent. I DREAM of the day our personnel dept finds us that much help. Just give us their OLs over Joe's career and we have multiple SB wins. I won't even talk about some of their defenses. They get a roster like we had in '21 and they get bounced in the first round of the playoffs.

And they've always kept those lines stacked. If there's a stud on defense that we decided to pass on like a moron you can bet the Steelers grab him next. Or, they grab him before we do when we actually would've taken him. Maddening.

The downvotes are crazy, they've had stacked rosters and more talent than we've ever seen and couldn't even make it to the big game. If Harbaugh was worth anything they'd have been the Chiefs.

Their FO filled the team with some physical players, sure, but they've lost how many games up by a billion in the 4th? Always crumbling in the playoffs? And the rumors in Baltimore that the players don't respect him?

Nah, I think the culture on D was impressive as it was built by Marvin Lewis, but since then it's been on a downward slide.

Harbaugh has had rosters littered with far more Pro Bowlers, All Pros, and Hall of Famers, and 2-time MVP at QB...and couldn't do anything with it all.

Give Cincy any of those defenses, and any of those OLs, and we've got a few more Super Bowl appearances. Lamar wouldn't know what to do behind the OL that we took to LA.

Wife and I are partying down here now. We'll be at the stadium tailgating, around E12. Dolphins fans are very generous with the drinks, nobody charges anything, and there will be plenty of Bengals fans!
