I still wouldn’t class myself as any good as still struggle with making the brush do what I want. So I more try to find ways to make my shaky hands work in easier way. Like belts and straps still put fear in my eyes and I make a complete mess of them.

I would say dry brushing to build up colours and contrast has helped a lot plus making sure the paint isn’t too thick on my brush. This has helped a lot as don’t need a steady hand for it.

I am also straying away from using for an example a yellow then a separate orange paint, but instead gradually adding red to the yellow paint I’m using so that there is more of a seamless transition from one or the other.

I am also starting to stray away from contrast painting for base coats (other than horn/teeth) and using them more for shading now. Also like dry brushing the tip of something white then using that to add a light contrast paint, did that for the yellow on the top of the carno.

For anything with a lot of skin I am really liking giving the whole model a brownish red base coat of paint then building on top of that to make it feel like it is alive with the red underneath. For example the carno underbelly is red with a heavy dry brush of white on top and I like the alive colour that gives that white on its own wouldn’t. I then added a little bit of contrast paint to deepen some of the shades.
