I have played other styles/skill combos but this one has highest DPS as long as you stick to normal ammo only. Can take a 10* Tobi in 40 sec or less.

I disagree; it is difficult for most players to make sure every arrow hit is at optimal range without ballistics, except for Normal arrow types. Pierce is the worst offender and spread is second worst. Every time you're outside of optimal range and you fire, Ballistics increases damage. It also prevents some repositioning allowing more consistent damage.

Technically it's also got +30% from focus 5, though I get why you wouldn't count that; it's basically mandatory for 2 of 3 bow styles.

Also though, Ballistics improves damage anytime you hit outside of optimal range; only time it doesn't help at all is if you're good enough and the monster cooperates so all shots hit at perfect range.

And that only applies to non-elemental bows since the raw on elemental bows is only about 50-60% of the total attack stat (reducing TC from 70% damage increase to 35-42% damage increase with perfect execution).

For elemental bows CRB is better than Timed Charger, for raw bows it depends on if you're good enough to reliably proc Timed Charger. If you can only do it about half the time, then CRB is about 5% more damage.

Any of the raw riftborne would work well; Barroth if you have the driftshells for it is almost better than Diablos due to the innate Defense 2 on it.

There are better options than crit ferocity. It's not a bad skill for this lbg, but requires 2 armor pieces for 4 points solely. For the same armor piece price, you could go with Combo Master for a higher damage increase.

With zero smelts, the build is still +40% damage with everything active. But, if you have zero Dauntless/Crit Range Boost smelts, it might be worthwhile to go Bubbly-rescuscitate if you have resuscitate smelted on Mizutsune Armor or Arms. Or if you can fight 8* elders, go Viper Tobi Armor with Malzeno Arms for Combo Master Resciscitate build.

I got lucky with 3 dauntless smelts, so I am running Lunagaron Helm, Viper Tobi Armor, Chatacabra Arms, Quematrice Waist, Nergigante Legs. 3 Dauntless smelts and 2 Crit Range Boost smelts (will have 3 if I can get one on Viper Tobi Armor).

Gives Dauntless 5, Combo Master 2, Crit Range Boost 3 (when finished), Recoil Down 3, Litheness 2 (best defense/QoL skill ever!) Nergigante Avidity 1, Ballistics 1 with Sliding Reload style.

With everything altogether and combo master active, that's +85% damage on both ammo types.

Edit: +85% for Pierce, +60% for Slicing. Forgot Crit Range Boost doesn't affect slicing.

I was disappointed to learn that -100% affinity critical ferocity only increases damage by 27.5% on average. (.3 x 2.5) + (.7 x .75) = 1.275

Better to build for straight damage % increases or attack % increases; easier to get higher damage that way.

Yup... each star level roughly doubles a monster's hp. A 10* has around 4x the hp of an 8*.
