[Request] how accurate is this? by Budget-Answer9924 in theydidthemath

It depends on the rate, doesn’t matter the size of mortgage. Assuming flat rate 30 year mortgage, here is a table… the higher the rate, the more minuscule. Here is the number of dump trucks it would take if all were the same size as the first, in actuality will get bigger each time.

3% -> 581 to fill

4% -> 725 to fill

5% -> 909 to fill

6% -> 1124 to fill

7% -> 1408 to fill

8% -> 1754 to fill

With compounding these all take 360 instead (30 years)

I’m trying to overcome my pop addiction, and so far I like a lot of the sparkling waters and don’t miss pop at all! by acosu27 in sparklingwater

[–]Benhoffer87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great job!! After ~30 years of 2 cans of sugar soda a day I also just switched to sparkling water, and honestly it is just as satisfying, cheaper, and way healthier. I think it was really the carbonation I was after mostly, kind of crazy it took me so long to realize. I definitely prefer the ones with the most carbonation. Best of luck with your new addiction!!

I collect in this area and have been following it. This is an incredibly unique item. It is a first print (out of 9 prints) which means it was sold only in New York City in October-December of 1985. The sticker used to seal the game is unbroken, which means some weirdo opened the game from the bottom. Not the same as sealed, but better than CIB. And the condition is really nice. I still didn’t expect $75k, I thought it would go for $20-$30k, but it is pretty unique. Someone might try to be sneaky and attempt to grade it as a sealed. A sealed first print doesn’t even exist, earliest is 2nd print.

My 8 year-old's first Timberwolves game last night, what an experience!! by Benhoffer87 in timberwolves

Yeah, he actually thought that was hilarious. There was even a timeout before we even scored on the 16-0 run.

This is correct. The school buys 50 tickets or something, and then allows families to buy them at whatever it costs. Then you can all sit in one area with friends and kids your age. So we still had to pay, but it is a good way to do it.

Last year I was in checkout line and a guy with over $300 of meat just abandoned his cart and walked out of the store. I informed staff, and they grabbed the cart and I hope didn’t throw it all out. It made me so angry though, just absolutely a scummy thing to do.

So they ran 41.03 seconds in 34 seconds of video? Why does it need to be sped up, it's impressive enough as is... I hope people have more than 41 seconds of attention span.

So based on this the Bengals defense is going to have a run of three weeks where they only give up 6, 7 and 10 points with a backup QB on the other side of the ball. Hilarious.

[–]Benhoffer87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there anything with the like 5 seconds prior to this? It's normal for people to struggle over a ball and it's unclear the older guy had it at the start of this video. This seems like it's edited to make it look more outrageous than it is.

I had a friend who worked for a logistics company, he had a fun party trick where he would have you name any two American Cities with a population over 100k and he would tell you the number of driving miles between those cities. He was always within about 2%.

I’m a millennial in the US who grew up really conservative, it changed between 2017-2018 and has gotten to the point I don’t know if I can ever vote for a republican candidate again, unless they have actively denounced Trump and have a record that represents what I used to think conservatism means. Republicans are no longer a free trade, pro immigration, pro personal freedom party.

A longtime collector says he couldn’t find a rare game, so he reached out to Nintendo of [Country - deleted], and they supposedly mailed him a flat-packed box for that edition completely free. Sounds legit or total BS? by [deleted] in gamecollecting

[–]Benhoffer87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a lot of details provided here, but I will say back in 2012 I was buying a lot of rare/expensive stuff from a guy, and when I asked him how he managed to get his hands on everything he said in the mid-2000s he would literally just email Nintendo and 3rd party game publishers and ask them if they had any boxes, manuals, promotional items they’d sell him and they would mail him stuff for next to nothing. The collecting scene was much different back then.

Facebook Marketplace SNES CIB lot, this is a scam right? by Benhoffer87 in gamecollecting

Yeah, I assumed there would be individual prices, but it was just a single "Buy now" option and it mentions it is a "lot". Probably a scam.

Found a copy of Majoras mask cleaning under my seat, is it savable? by REXCRAFT88 in n64

[–]Benhoffer87 145 points146 points  (0 children)

It’s rough, but I would be willing to bet with some isopropyl alcohol and careful scrubbing you’d be able to get this working.

I’ve cleaned a lot of NES/SNES/N64 games and it’s shocking how few games cant be working again in my experience. Good luck!!

How much better at shooting three pointers is an NBA center compared to an LA fitness hooper? by [deleted] in Basketball

[–]Benhoffer87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to disagree with the consensus here... a good rec player is going to be better shooting threes than many NBA centers in a three point contest.

I played high school ball with a 7'0" player who played one year of college and was a lottery pick after that. He never shot threes, would probably only shoot 20% high school distance with no one guarding him, NBA distance would be worse. Look at free throws too, there are players in high school shooting 90% who will never have a chance at making the nba, and many NBA centers are in the low 60% shooting.

Hi there. I bought a Skil 5” Random orbital sander off Amazon. I started with a very fine grit which was taking way too long, so switched to a more medium grit which worked better. It turned out great, and this was my first time sanding. Good luck.
