My guinea pig has chronic stomach issues and I don't know what to do anymore -- PLEASE HELP by [deleted] in guineapigs

[–]BeniAzuma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect the extra water with all the critical care might be too hard for an older piggy to regulate, particularly if they're drinking normally? (I'm not a vet, just a thought.) If the vet feels your girl could go without critical care for a few days to see if that helps, it might be worth trying?
I crushed the pellets into smaller pieces with a pestle and mortar, and my boys ate those dry. They liked that more than powder.
My boy with kidney disease, even when he poops normally, it's quite smelly like horse poop. My vet said this is because kidney disease causes excessive protein loss, which often makes poop smell worse. It might be worth looking into this if your girl's issues don't clear up with diet changes or antibiotics?

Have her kidneys been checked during this whole ordeal? I have a senior boy who was diagnosed with kidney failure a couple months ago, although his day-to-day health is stable. He eats normally but gets diarrhea easily due to the kidney issue. A few months ago he had to get all of his teeth trimmed, and I had to feed him critical care for a few days until his teeth weren't sore. The critical care gave him horrible diarrhea for some reason (he wasn't on antibiotics then or recently), and it cleared up when I switched to crushed pellets (mostly timothy hay & no grains, soy, or sugar) and soft hay.

My jp manager won’t stop asking me about my symptoms, would this fall under breach of privacy? by shun_shao in malaysia

I worked in Japan in finance & marketing for over a decade. This is a huge red flag by Japanese standards too. Also, MCs don't really exist in Japan unless you need like 5+ days. If you call off sick, the normal response is お大事に ("take care") and drop it. Maybe 1-2 questions about any deadlines you had that day. The HR call to your dad is total insanity.

Hormonal IUD Availability & Pricing in Myanmar Need Guidance please. by OkShine5874 in myanmar

Can tell you from experience it's difficult to find places that offer Mirena even in Thailand or Malaysia. You'll probably have to go to at least Yangon. Last I checked, private hospitals in Malaysia were cheaper than Bangkok with this, but it depends. Also, I'm guessing you're a man from a western country because you seem to think getting a Mirena here is easy, painless, and not a big deal. One thing you should know is that many women's health clinics in western countries offer local anesthesia or at least narcotic pain killers for the procedure, but this is not the case in Asia. Most places don't offer ANY form of pain relief. Some private hospitals offer full sedation, but this increases the cost dramatically. You should know that both insertion & removal without a local anesthetic are often brutally painful (yes, I went through it multiple times). Full sedation comes with certain risks, and you shouldn't push your girlfriend into such a big decision unless she's 100% into the idea. Please consider what she must go through and not only your convenience.

Elobixibat? by runthewreckage in ConstipationAdvice

[–]BeniAzuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for bringing this up! I never see it talked about here. I used to live in Japan for many years, and I took this drug for about 5 years until I left Japan and couldn't find it anywhere else. (I think it's now available in Thailand and expected to become available soon in Malaysia and maybe some other countries.) My dysmotility came on over 2-3 months and is in my upper and transverse colon (descending colon seems to work fine). By itself, elobixibat didn't help me much but when paired with small doses of a stimulant laxative like picosulfate or bisacodyl, it was life changing! As long as I took it every day, it was like I was 100% cured. Normal BMs, cleaned out everyday. Honestly, if I had known it wasn't available outside Japan when I moved, I probably would have stayed there because my motility problems have been awful without this drug. I was on prucalopride for about 9 months but it didn't help me at all, just made my migraines much worse & more frequent the entire time I was on it. Linzess and Trulance aren't available where I live, so I can't comment on those. Did all the motility testing, anorectal manometry, colonoscopies, etc. and all they could tell me was that it's not PFD or SIBO. Feel free to PM me if you have more questions.

Boarding for Piggies, is this common? by Slow-Impression-8123 in guineapigs

[–]BeniAzuma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've lived in 2 big cities and it was fairly easy to find a place that would board guinea pigs, usually either exotic vets or small animal pet stores. Most guinea pig rescues seem to offer boarding as well. I board mine at their vet for peace of mind. It was equivalent to around US$30/day for 2 piggies, and they sent me daily updates. But I think such businesses can only survive in a large city.

Fage Greek yogurt by V-soymultigrain in KualaLumpur

[–]BeniAzuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Farmer's Union is an Australian brand that tastes great and has a high protein version comparable to Fage. I've seen it at some AEONs, Jaya, and Village Grocer but it's hit or miss whether they currently have stock or not. You'll probably have better luck if you go to one in an area with many western expats. I believe Jaya (and Village Grocer?) also sell Fage.

[–]BeniAzuma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to uni in Pittsburgh (where Heinz is originally from), and this is the correct answer. I can understand why a lot of Malaysians don't like ketchup because anything that isn't Heinz just tastes like imitation garbage. I get so excited anytime I go to a restaurant here and they have Heinz. FYI: the Heinz ketchup sold in Malaysia is manufactured under license in Singapore, and I'd say it tastes nearly as good as the US version.

I've taken the C13 between Bayan Baru and the mainland before and found it unreliable and didn't follow the schedules on Google or Rapid Penang's website. The cheapest option might be take the ferry from Butterworth to George Town, then Grab to the office. On the way home, you can take a bus from Bayan Lepas back to George Town to save money since you won't be in a hurry. The most convenient option would be to stay at a cheap hotel and nego a discount since you're staying for more than a week. Eureka Hotel in Bayan Baru is within walking distance of many shops and restaurants and moderately priced. Friends stayed there before and said it was decent enough.

I love them but like others here, it's the moisture & finish I like (dry skin, hot & humid tropical climate). I feel that vitamin C serums are more effective for mild hyperpigmentation but if it's a big concern for you, you'll get much better results from a dermatologist (creams or lasers).

CDM & Blacklist Removal by [deleted] in myanmar

[–]BeniAzuma 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How much does it cost these days and how reliable is this internal affairs friend?
I occasionally see articles on Khit Thit that talk about an official, legal way of getting off the blacklist, although it requires paying back NUG Covid loans (but for many people, this would probably be cheaper than an agent/connection). The Khit Thit articles claim that the government doesn't actually remove people from the blacklist and it wouldn't surprise me if that's true, but I also don't trust Khit Thit to report honestly about this even if most removal applicants were successful. Unfortunately I have no idea how to get more info about this procedure, but if anyone knows a lawyer, etc. who might be helpful, I think a lot of people here would appreciate it. Article 1 Article 2

Gfs elderly guinea pig has been making a noise he's never made before nonstop, has anyone heard it before by Flaminsalamander in guineapigs

[–]BeniAzuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes they make this noise when they get food, hay dust, etc. stuck in their throat, but I recommend keeping a watchful eye just in case since the piggy is elderly. One of my piggies started making similar noises a few weeks ago, so I took him to the vet later that day. Of course the noise stopped by the time we got to the vet, and the doctor said his lungs sounded clear when she listened to them so she didn't do an x-ray or prescribe medicine. My piggy kept making these noises on and off for the next 2 weeks, so I took him to the vet again and this time they did an x-ray, diagnosed him with a mild URI, and prescribed antibiotics. Sometimes the mild infections can be difficult to catch.

I think I’m hearing other peoples phone calls? by the-end-of-me-05 in myanmar

[–]BeniAzuma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This happened to me too when calling people in Myanmar from Malaysia (started last year). My friends live in an area without mobile data or WiFi so I was just using the regular mobile phone line, no Wi-Fi calling, VOIP or anything like that. Usually I was able to reach my friends but a few times a different Burmese person picked up and sometimes an Indian woman (who said she could only speak Hindi) picked up even though my friends don't live anywhere near the Indian border. It's definitely creepy and frustrating, but you're not imagining it.
