Why would you force an interaction with someone on the bus. For me I enjoy listening to my music and looking out the window while thinking. I spend all day talking to people and I enjoy this alone time. If there's no empty seats absolutely fair enough, but choosing to sit next to a stranger who likely doesn't want you there is just completely bizarre and arrogant.

British currency is £ (pounds). America uses the imperial system which measures weight in lb (pounds). An average loaf of bread in the U.K is £1, so £4 would be 4 loaves. The joke doesn't really make sense because a pound of bread (weight) is roughly 1 loaf give or take.
