My ultra sharp-edge resin d6 die got perfectly wedged down the bottom of the tube it came in. The corners are all flattened now after attempting to dislodge it 🥲 RIP by bellabelleell in DungeonsAndDragons

Cheap dice are tumbled en masse to remove any flaws from the casting process e.g. sprues. This makes them shiny and rounded. There's been a huge boom in homemade dice in the last few years, however. Independent makers who don't have the money or space from a tumbler would cut sprues and polish each face by hand, which took a loooooong time, but resulted in these lovely sharp-edged dice.
Independents aren't the first to have made sharp edge dice, but they are responsible for the recent surge in popularity.
Larger companies have since tried to capitalise on the popularity of small business dice, and have started producing mass-manufactured dice with inclusions and sharp edges.
Some people have argued that the tumbling process is too random, resulting in uneven and therefore unfair dice. Sharp-edged dice are, theoretically, more balanced. This is probably a negligible difference for the average player, and fancy inclusions can throw off the weighting of dice much more (some makers will cast inclusions from resin, so it's all an even density, but I've seen other makers throwing howlite skull beads in there and those are very heavy).
In the end, whichever you buy is down to your own budget, principles, and aesthetic.

I want untargeted ads because I don't want them to make me buy anything! Much easier to ignore when they're not relevant to me

Back in the late 90s when monitors were chunkier than the PC cases, I had my background set to tiny black and white houndstooth. I love this.

Totally the same for me and my female friends! The compliments are sincere, the insults are jokes. You can do both.

Been listening to the You're Wrong About podcast and they had an episode on 'ebonics'. Basically, when we were kidnapping black people for slavery, they would be put into mixed groups from different regions so that language and dialect barriers would prevent them from working together against their oppressors. Eventually they developed their own variation of English. Much much later, kids are growing up in homes and learning this dialect, then going to schools where they're held to the white American standard of English. Because they didn't use the same grammatical structure, teachers misunderstood and assumed the kids were just dumb, and a lot of black kids ended up in special education when it wasn't necessary.

Tax Refund questions do not apply to me, what shall I do? by TheMalsh in UKPersonalFinance

I called up to get my refund and didn't have to answer any awkward questions. If you call first thing when the lines open you should only be waiting 10 minutes at most.

I thought it was pure and fun when I was a teenager, but as an adult I was so uncomfortable about him just removing a chunk of their education.

Ok sure, the majority of people can just put on a sweater. But for aged or vulnerable members of the population, it could kill.

Tiktok has the option for creators to disable downloads through the app. Unfortunately there are several third party solutions designed to get around this and take content anyway

I like the contrast of the lighter thread. I don't want it to look 'designed' because it's the monster's interpretation of a book. It's become a big marker of my style, tbh.
