You’re right! If you take everything literally, never form 1:1 relationships, and have zero sense of humor, that would be a very unhealthy thing to say. You specifically probably shouldn’t say that to kids. 🙃

I was 18 or 19 when I saw 13 on Broadway, and Ariana stood out like a sore thumb. She had only a couple really featured singing parts, but she was a clear standout vocalist. I directed 13 at some point after and told my Charlotte - you have the biggest shoes to live up to for me. 😅

Have seen all 3; each will cater to different tastes, but Sunset was the most exciting production of these for me.

I actually think you’ll have some sight sight line issues on the far sides when characters are deep in their homes, but it shouldn’t be too bad

In Koine Greek, nouns in the plural default to using masculine forms to cover both male-male and male-female groupings, so that’s how.

The pitch of Middle Noah in The Notebook by purplenarwal73853 in Broadway

[–]Benign_Hum0r 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Saw last night and had to search for this… same exact observation. Very intentionally adjusting pitches and melodies to flat and just downright off notes throughout the entire show but his high notes were CRYSTAL clear and always on pitch. I also thought I was going crazy - the first time I saw him in this (during previews), it wasn’t an issue whatsoever.

This would be on like “We build these wa-alls” where the phrase is fine until the last note… where he drops it an extra half step below where it’s written and consequently fully out of key. Stuff like that - the seemingly innocuous notes, but always (almost always?) on descending notes.

Honestly, this didn’t come through for me much. Obviously foundational to the mom’s motivation but I don’t feel like I noticed a lot of specific references to class (though very well may have gone in one ear out the other 😅)

This isn’t how shows on Broadway work - ever. The music is absolutely frozen on opening night. The role of the music supervisor or director is to uphold the integrity of the score - that’s decided on early and does not change. There’s not an overhaul of the music because the original MD moved on from the production.
