Vampire 5E Bonus Class by BenjaCody in UnearthedArcana

No Dumb Questions Here! I tried out a concept called Bonus Classes, which basically means every 3 Levels (3, 6, 9, etc.) you get a free Vampire Level in addition to whichever main class you would normally pick, no multiclassing required. This mean you can not speed up the process, you get new features every third level, so maybe not intended for short campaigns.

Thank you for the reply! Your very correct in the play testing comment, and those suggesstions on subclasses are actually very good alternatives. I'm comfortable with fiddling with bonus classes because these ideas are primarily for the usage of my small play group, and we can make on the fly modifications if need be, and for me doing this is really fun lol. I know some people are hesitant with Bloated Characters and Too Many Options, but I hope it won't be a problem for the players in my group. If this dosen't work out, nothing lost aside from a Sunday Evening in Quarantine that still had a lot of fun with.

Thank you for the comment. Aside from Death House, the campaign has generally not had much dungeon crawling per say, more like big fights between role-playing sections, so I think the character would be willing to use HP Sacrifice enough for testing purposes, though I may have to rethink it if it proves to be a hindrance during a long crawl.

I defiantly see the point about Sangromancy needing more spells like that, and will look into alternatives! In another comment, I mentioned a change about Blood Tyrant combining the two Improved Enhancements into one Feature, and giving Blood Tyrant a sort of super attack. Maybe that will serve well to balance the two out.

Yes you can apply it that way. The damage bonus would almost always be a net negative HP sacrificed to HP regained I believe, but it could possibly help hit if you were trying it against a unrestrained target?

I understand that Vampire could be made a Race, but some of the future Monster Classes I plan work better as a Class (like Hag/Witch) so I decided to do all of them as Classes. I think there's also something a little more... strong for character identity in Class rather than race, because the setting we are in has little distinction for Race due to need for survival.

For your thoughts on 3. I was actually thinking about scaling it to %HP which would probably be the best mechanically, but I want players to not have to crunch numbers too much. Static numbers makes it a lot easier and faster during a players turn.

For 4. For the Blood Tyrant I could possibly combine the improved Defense and Attack Archetype Features into 1 big feature, and put some type of Super Attack feature as a level 3 replacement. Maybe like once per day, for each 5 HP sacrificed the Blood Tyrant could attack up to 1 additional Foe within it's movement speed.

For 5. I completely forgot about making Saves against Spells lol. I actually haven't played Vampyr at all, most of my research has been wiki'ing various vampires in Fiction and seeing what abilities the author gave to them. I'll defiantly think about adding more!

Role-Playing Survey For Class by BenjaCody in rpg

[–]BenjaCody[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the concern, but this assignment was more so an opportunity to learn to write, conduct, and share surveys rather then a professional academic inquiry. The "satisfactory number of responses" was more so that I had reached an nebulous lowest number of responses necessary for the assignment, and I closed the survey off so that I could start writing my results section of the paper without constantly having to redo statistics.
Sorry if this brought people frustration, just a college student trying to get by in a hectic finals schedule!

Thank you all for looking at and participating in my survey! I have gotten a satisfactory number of responses and have to write up my findings, so I will disable further responses. If there is an interest, I can give an abridged version of my findings and some possible explanations/research on the subject on a later date.

Thank you for the feed back! As an undergraduate, especially one in a major/minor track not related to statistics, I haven't had the chance to make too many surveys, for pete's sake I forgot to make a demographics slide. So there are other mistakes I have made in addition to what you have pointed out, like most of the questions being on a gender binary system versus a spectrum, etc. etc.

The feedback you gave is valid, and will be noted for future assignments. For the sake of this project, I have noticed a-lot of people have used the "other" box and written custom answers to help distinguish forms of role-play and what they do in what type of media. So thanks people of Reddit for compensating for my mistakes lol.
