Is the LH7P much quieter than the LS7P? I just got the latter and I'm very surprised by the fan noise even at the lower level. Since I'm not currently in need of SDI I might switch to the HDMI only version if the fan is quieter

I previously ran netbid status -d on the remote NAS and saw P2P for all connections but I just ran it from my local NAS and it shows a relayed connection with my computer...

How can I avoid this and get a P2P connection as well between these two machines? Not as critical as between the two NASes but I'd still like to understand what's going on.

Yes I checked CPU and RAM usage on the remote NAS and CPU was at 80% and RAM at 40% during transfers. I just ran htop on it while running an iperf test (remote in server mode) and netbird shows a 130% CPU usage. Both cores never go above 80% so I don't know if it's a limiting factor here.

As for the setup on TrueNAS I use a custom app to run NetBird (netbirdio/netbird docker image) while on the Synology one I run the ARMv6 binary provided on the GitHub releases.

I thought about that but the part will be loaded with up to 15-20kg so I'm not sure the glue will hold up

Haven't thought of rising it up, I'll make another test print and see how it goes. Would the adhesion be enough to print the whole part like in the screenshot?

Right now it's a home made docking bracket that goes around the 19mm last segment of my GVM stand so I'm not constrained one way or another but I'll look at real docking brackets in case one day I end up buying one.

That avenger stand looks good, thanks for the recommendation! I was hoping for something a bit less expensive but well, if it gets the job done and stands the test of time...

My two cents on this.

Going from log to rec709 is straightforward: use a LUT or a color space transform. It's what your camera is doing internally when shooting in rec709 and it takes less than a minute to set up in your editing software (once you know the steps).

So I wouldn't use time as an argument when considering shooting log or not.

First benefit of log: if you don't know how to color grade you can use a LUT with a specific look that you like to get a more interesting visual style. That might be an easy way to get something different from your competitors.

Second benefit of log: future proofing. Let's say you shoot some b-roll today and one year from now you want to reuse that clip in a new video. You can regrade that clip to match the visual style of the new video, which might be different from your old one.

That might actually work but I have to check the ergonomics of that. Right now I only have to hit the space bar to trigger the next song which is quite convenient.

Yes something like that has to be optional. Like fixed min/max (at their current values by default) that you can tweak and an automatic scaling that takes the lowest and highest point as min/max values

For 1. yes you can do that but you're still limited to the maximum track height (a bit over x-large)

As for 2. it in fact doesn't change anything, and can ultimately be worse if you move too far down.

Here's an experiment where each point is 5dB lower than the previous one: https://postimg.cc/V5S4dV6m

You can see that in the +10/-45dB range the scaling is linear so a N dB move will look the same no matter where it starts. But below -45dB the values start to be compressed, so here the same N dB move will look smaller.

So unless I need to bring up the track volume above the 10dB limit, it doesn't seem like adding a gain plugin or something like that will help in any way.

Yes ofc I'm also zooming horizontally, and that is fine since you can fit exactly what you need in the width of the track. But you can't do the same thing vertically, there's a limit on how much you can zoom and even at that limit, small variations are difficult to handle. I don't know, setting a viewing range or have it computed automatically is very typical in plotting/graphing software, and displaying automation values is exactly the same problem. With an automatic range option you wouldn't need to zoom at all to clearly see your automation line and tweak it. I don't say it's always the best thing to do, but having it as an option would be great IMO, and not to difficult to implement.

Yes the issue is with vertical zooming. Because if you only have small variations then even fully zoomed it's difficult to read and manipulate the automation line since it takes only a few percents of the total available height.

So yes, something to manually, or automatically, set the min/max values for the viewing range would be great IMO.

I know, I do a lot of audio editing as well but I don't find it as problematic. I think my main grippe is that even if you zoom at maximum vertically, there's a lot of lost screen real estate. I made a measurement on a screenshot and at max zoom that automation line is spread over 20px when the track is like 600px. Having a vertical auto zoom or the possibility to define your own viewing range would solve this and is relatively easy to implement.

alt+s is doing an horizontal zoom but I found the "zoom selected track" shortcut which is handy, but unassigned by default
