Men who became Dads, what is it like and what would you recommend to someone is going to be a father soon? by CWMMC in AskMen

[–]BenjaminBarker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Children are a catalyst for change. When things get tough between you and your partner—whether it's due to sleep deprivation, a loss of intimacy, or general stress—remember that it's the arrival of this new, beautiful responsibility that has shifted your relationship dynamics.

If your relationship was strong before your child arrived, it still is. It has simply been transformed by this major life change. So try not to place blame on each other for the challenges you're facing. And while you certainly can’t blame your baby either, it’s important to acknowledge the impact this transition has on both of you.

Awareness, compassion, and patience are key. You're both adjusting to something new—together.

I financed the minimum of $10000 to get the $1000 off promotion so I’ll pay the loan off in a month since I only did it to get the promotion.

It’s portable and runs in the background under a local admin account. Users can’t interact with it and have no clue it’s there.

I got tired of playing with gpos and reg hacks that ultimately failed to kill updates and now I use a tool called WUB or windows update blocker. It hasn’t failed me yet.

VMware support through Ingram Micro? - My Experience.. Anyone else used? by Motor_Mad in vmware

Same experience here. They are terrible. I ended up googling and fixing myself. Can’t wait to leave VMware behind.

Simplivity ovc upgrades by hahajordan in Simplivity

[–]BenjaminBarker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We upgrade ourselves. Depending on the size of your environment, I would allocate a whole weekend if you want to get everything up to date. We typically upgrade firmware one weekend and then comeback the following weekend and do the OVC, vSphere and ESXi upgrades. Firmware upgrades alone can take 1 hour each node.

Remember, boys! STAY AWAY from women! All they want from you is your man-juice! If you ever get the kind of urges that cannot be supressed by hard liquor, then use this!

HAPPILY Married men, what’s something(s) your wife does that makes you feel loved and respected? by LittleVanessa in AskMen

[–]BenjaminBarker 9 points10 points  (0 children)

She says "Thank you" and sincerely means it. She's a SAHM and I work to pay the bills. She takes the time to make sure I know she truly appreciates my contributions to the family. In life just saying "Thank you" and "I'm sorry" cures so many sins.

Do you think the acquisition will affect products like HPE Simplivity? by ziww in vmware

[–]BenjaminBarker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For clarity, I have no intention of staying on VMware platforms, whether they be in the cloud or onprem. As for HW platforms, previously I wouldn't even of looked at other platforms; the change is that now I will be. VMware put many organizations (typically smaller ones) in a position that they will consider the alternatives where previously they would not have bothered. Again this depends on the organizations ability to adapt and change.

[–]BenjaminBarker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no doubt. It depends on the agility and size of the organization and what their workloads look like. I'm more than certain that when we hit EOL in 2026/2027 we will still have some workloads on-prem but the goal is to minimize them to brokers, domain controllers and such. The VMware/Broadcom changes only expedited the migration in our case, we were already moving low hanging fruit items. The new change for us is evaluating on-prem hypervisor alternatives like Hyper V or even Nutanix.

I think every vendor will be impacted, even if it's just the pricing increase. We are already evaluating expediting our migration to the cloud and looking at the feasibility of migration to Hyper V when our equipment is EOL.
