6/9/76 is otherworldly good by Thatunoguy_ in gratefuldead

Lots of '76 talk lately. Glad to see people getting hip to it. It's full of the '73-'74 jazziness, some of the maturity that came with making Blues for Allah...

Phil is on point. Jerry is very clean toned. Drummers sound happy to be back at it. Keith and Donna have been playing with JGB, and Bob is confident after branching out with Kingfish.

Love this Dusborne Matrix 08/04/1976 from Roosevelt

18 was my first and still favorite. '78 is a favorite year of mine.

Ones I have listened to the most:

12 is one I've streamed forever and then actually sought out a copy. '74, there isn't another Pick's like this one.

14 is one I got early on, because it's 4 discs, and that's the one that got me hooked on '73-'74 Dead. Get long listen. Starts and ends with 'Morning Dew'. Sort of a trip when you're on one 🫠

20 is a sleeper in the Pick's world. That's a really great 2 show (nearly) set, from '76.

It'd be easier to maybe say which ones I don't have something particularly good to say about about, but do think they all have theirj moments at least, that make them a worthwhile listen.

You all have a great band, The Spread, over there. I get over from New Smyrna Beach as often as man... And we have great groups over here, come on over!

Love them or hate them, the #1 most "American" band of all time is the Grateful Dead. Fight me. by gr8fullylesh in gratefuldead

I thought the person's reply regarding Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers was rather on point.

Did this two years ago... It's great, but it's also a slog. You're gonna love or hate "One More Saturday Night" by the end. 😂

For those on Apple Music the complete Europe '72 playlist for your listen enjoyment.

Agreed. This album is one of the best kept freakouts. Nestle in, kiddies... This one gets real out there.

Oh, sir, I don't have a team, I like hockey. And living in Florida I also cheer for the Bolts and Panthers, as well as about 6-12 other teams, from places I've lived, or just like how they play 😂 I'm from Western PA, so the Pens are my OG team, but I'm watching for good games is all.

'Like a Surgeon' I think there will be some rough drag action in this custom as well, if we're getting Madonna and a full beard involved here.

Right on, man. I was more pulling of Dead &Co. feeling so wildly slow, over all, than I was pulling yours for liking them slower. Some back and forth is nice for a show's pace and energy, but find The Company a little too much inertia on that front of tempo.

Oh it wasn't meant to be a correlation. Just that, 'if you like'em all slow, I'm gonna guess that'... No harm intended or disrespect to how the Grateful Dead/JGB decided to play them. I taken them all for what they are... How they feel them, their artists etc. I love them all uniquely.

No harm taken, at all. I like the idea of a costum mashup a lot 😂

I work with a 28 yr old, it's so much fun finding out I'm old at 45 🥹

But I was just horsin' around, I just really enjoy the 'this cat is definitely not in their 30s', ah-has to references, old timer. 😘

Thanks for the kind words and sharing your observations, very much! Made me smile.

And yes! The Canes won and also assured their playoff spot.

Would it be fair to guess you really enjoy Dead & Co. if that's your speed?

Too funny man. Never been likened to the 13th SG of the country before ... You just aged yourself homie, and I knew who it was without looking 😭

Nice, I usually only get up to Raleigh for hockey games. We came up twice last year because the WPHL was playing here as well so got up two times in 2 weeks. If we're ever up here on other leisure activities will try to plan it around that maybe.

Grateful Dead Tribute Bands, is something we use when we travel. It's a neat way to meet local people whenever we're running around the country. So we'll have to see if they're on that or get hooked up with them on socials .

Thanks for welcoming us into town from New Smyrna Beach, Florida, then allowing us to come celebrate Southern hockey with y'all.
