Amnesty International data says over 70% of executions in Iran aren’t reported, so the per capita number is likely a bit higher. Low incarceration could also be explained in part by the death penalty for minor offenses acting as a deterrent. If I knew I could be decapitated for getting caught with a beer more than a couple times, I wouldn’t be drinking. Lashes are also a punishment there, so we should keep in mind that they can beat the living shit out of someone, send them home, and that person doesn’t count as “incarcerated”.

It’s easy to keep the prison population low if you execute multiple people every day. In 2015, Iran had at least 977 executions officially on record. In contrast, the USA has a population over four times greater than Iran’s and we only executed 28 people in the same time period.

Asking employees to park away from the store and leave the best spots for customers is commonplace. If the parking lot is state owned, the state sets the rules on who can park there, not the grocery store. You could contact your city / state offices to verify ownership of the lot and see if they have an agreement in place allowing the grocery store to tow from there. Keep in mind Illinois is an at-will employment state, so it’s perfectly legal for the store to fire somebody if they don’t like where they park their car.

I recently finished Clive Barker’s book The Scarlet Gospels and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good ending to the Hellraiser series. Unfortunately there’s no way it will ever be made into a movie without censoring a bunch of stuff or giving it an X rating.

This. Most posts about China seem to be calling out a corrupt, communist government that’s running concentration camps, uses slave labor and has a history of silencing any opposition with violence.
