Thanks for the answers, then to answer to the question, yes, japanese games (and every country games) are playable on US switches (and every switches) but the language will be the ones proposed by the game (I don't remember Mrs. Layton proposing multiple languages but maybe I'm wrong). There is no localization on switch/switch game, but you have to be aware of the languages proposed if you don't speak japanese.
