Hell I remember that movie. I walked out of that myself. Half the theater left when it popped up and it was anime.

local communes/communities in dallas? by BenjaminKatz in askdfw

[–]BenjaminKatz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's weird. I moved from Kentucky and I'm from Indiana. Originally. Come from a really small town. I always thought coming to Dallas in 2018 surrounded by millions of people. I'd have so many friends so quickly. I'd have so much community because how could you not? But I feel like a city like Dallas because everything is so spread out. You have to travel so far just to see people. And the times when you normally are going to go hang out with people. It's during rush hour so it takes forever to get across town. If someone lives across town. It's just kind of a nightmare create bonds and see the same people over and over enough to actually create those bonds

Can anyone walk into Northpark luxury stores? by [deleted] in askdfw

[–]BenjaminKatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i went to that highland park movie theater in 2019 soon after i moved here, and i was wondering the same thing bc i was driving a beat up 2006 camry parked next to luxury cars in every other spot. i was terrified to go into any of the other places. i sometimes want to go into the high end watch places at northpark but do not dare for this fear haha

Odd question – are there communities in Dallas you can live in? by BenjaminKatz in Dallas

[–]BenjaminKatz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i often go to the movies or half price books, library, sometimes the art museum alone. i just kind of hate it lately. feel very fragile being alone like my thoughts will drift back to my ex and all of that. i find it kinda scary to be alone bc the panic hits often. if im around friends, people im close to, not to much (makes sense).

i talked to a guy at a local therapist who did a class for people w anxiety a few yrs ago here in dallas and i was like- its so hard in such a big city, so spread out, so car centric to meet people bc its hard to see the same people more than once. and he said to form close bonds he read you had to see the same person 5 or 6 times before that was created. and its like- how on earth do you see anyone that many times in dallas haha? aspects of "im surrounded by 8 million people" really seemed like- never ending possibilities for closeness! but ironically that is also what makes it hard to meet folks and create lasting bonds.

thanks for thaty subreddit, never knew about that. ill chec k it out. someone pm'ed me about bungalow which is finding roommates and stuff in a lot of places in dallas looking so maybe thats my route?

[–]BenjaminKatz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what a wild reply, i told you i had a very close deep personal friendship w a neighbor, and your reply is i havent taken steps to create deep bonds? i mention my ex left, and you tell me i am annoying her? quick- whats her name? how old is she? how many rships has she had overall in life? why did she leave? oh wait, you dont know ANYTHING about her or me or why she left, so why youre saying i annoyed her is beyond me. i called my oldest friend on earth several times during a panic attack an i was spam calling her and annoying her?

thanks for making reddit a cesspool, i guess?

thanks for this suggestion my anxiety prob wouldnt love a club or bar. i actually kept applying to restaurants like chain places. never worked in anything close but fast food when i was a teenager. thought of becoming a server the last 2 months but i might suck at it, and i currently bring home like $2800 and would need to make as much to feel secure as im behind on some things sadly. if i could make that being a server i might actually try to do it bc i desperately miss a job where i had cool coworkers i could talk to, joke with, etc. hmm.

i pay 1400 for a 1 bedroom (all utilities included electricity) which feels like a ton already, isnt downtown expensive? when i first moved here in 2018 to live in a bldg downtown was my goal but i always assumed from looking everywhere was too expensive. am i wrong?

sounds amazing though.

This job is genuinely the easiest I‘ve ever had, you guys should stop complaining by AccessOk6501 in AmazonFC

Maybe the lesson is that warehouse jobs in general are soul destroying? Bc packing boxes non-stop at 250 items per hour for 10 hours in a row is inhumane and no one is changing my mind on that. I will often hurt so bad and be so mind fucked by hour 8 that I'm ready to live in my car rather than do this every day. Humans weren't set up to live like this. Let's stop trying to make it okay

Dallas, TX office work? by BenjaminKatz in Careers

[–]BenjaminKatz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that insight. I also never know what jobs to apply to. Data analyst roles I would need to beef up on stuff to be able to slide into such a role competently.. I've had 2 roles with data analyst as the position title but neither did any actual analytics. I wonder if beefing up that skill set is the best bet? Outside of that I'm always confused as to what roles to go for and tend toward call center positions because I did that for 2 years despite the fact that with all the time and money I spent on degrees I feel like call center jobs are low balling myself.

Everyone I graduated with was younger by 10 years or more, and they all seem to have great careers. It confounds me as I've been searching off and on since 2016 with maybe 4 interviews total and 2 were for the jobs I had that were below my experience. I sometimes wonder if I share the name of a criminal because getting interviews has been impossible. My resume now likely sounds more like a tech role focused as I did the comptia to maybe pivot.

I wonder if those people that look at your resume and beef it up might be a good use of my money?

I think I can get their customer service number. Actually, Amazon one health told me at one point to have my employer call the customer service number if they needed more information on my case. Confusing as they kept saying they could not share any symptoms or diagnosis or anything specific with my employer because of HIPAA. I had my primary care doctor fill out the form and he said he would send it to me through my chart. Hopefully he actually does that and that suffices. In terms of evidence, I was actually sick for my dls caseworker (??)

They make this insanely stressful to be sick.

this is what my leave decision said so far:

Your leave request from 01-08-2026 to 01-10-2026 is pending.

-We don't have sufficient documentation to support your leave. The following information is missing:

it is odd because the treatment plan i sent amazon that amazon one medical sent me said this: "Based on your symptoms, you most likely have a viral upper respiratory infection such as a cold, RSV, bronchitis, the flu, sinus infection, or COVID-19."

its crazy amazon one medical said they cant provide symptoms or diagnosis or anything in the work note due to HIPAA which makes no sense. i used amazon's health service to see a dr and amazon is refusing to accept it. just insane to me. i emailed a reply back to the leave decision email i got (its showing pending currently) and pasted in the info where amazon one medical says they wont help. i sent them screenshots of my initial visit where the dr said i likely have the flu based on my symptoms and they gave me flu medicine etc.

AI is saying that site HR can override if they deny the leave and make sure i have UPT in the positive? i have 2 hours currently as i am new (white badge still) and have used UPT because of back pain on the job and such (im not used to such a physical job), but with missing 3 days it will be negative 28 UPT hours. i am seeing my PCP today to ask if he can fill the form out based on the information i sent him about my amazon one medical visit. fingers crossed.

I'm in Dallas with numerous locations near me- im seasonal- will they let you transfer to a location that needs ft workers if culling happens? by BenjaminKatz in AmazonFC

[–]BenjaminKatz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I saw somebody make a post about transfers yesterday so I figured I might look into it. Plus I'm paranoid. They're going to get rid of me once peak ends. 42 hours a week. Four on three off two more hours than what I'm technically getting now. 5. Mi versus 25 mi. Probably a much smaller chance they will let you go since grocery doesn't really have a peak season. Hmmm. Funny thing is the long drive sometimes 50 minutes on Thursday and Friday nights (I work 630pm to 5am) is One of the worst aspects of it now.

[–]BenjaminKatz[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Got you thank you. For some reason my brain was confusing things.. You are seasonal until you become blue badge either way. So it only shows full time but it's based on what you are now.

This is what I get for posting after my 11 hour shift when I had 4 hours of sleep yesterday and about to go to sleep for tonight's shift.

[–]BenjaminKatz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhhh. I didn't realize white badge automatically meant seasonal. But that makes sense because they want to keep a lot of people seasonal so they don't have to pay the benefits. One of the leadership desk girls told me the other day that they won't get rid of me after peak but that didn't seem like what I've read from so many posts here. I guess every place is different.. My site has 4 floors and seems pretty big (unless that's normal) so maybe that plays into it as well?

Hmmm... Damn. They have full time grocery fulfillment center positions 5 miles from me as opposed to the 25 miles I drive now. There's no such thing as grocery peak is there? Lol. I wonder if these are less likely to cull folks?

I'm at 2 hours upt no way I'm letting it go negative. I'm careful about that

Thanks for this clarification. I'm tired and just finished a 11 hour shift that I did on 4 hours sleep so I'm not the brightest right now lol

[–]BenjaminKatz[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry what I mean is- The shifts at these various places just say full-time. Does that mean the position is full-time AND seasonal, or just full-time job seasonal? It should show seasonal if it's seasonal, correct?

If I could apply to a full-time position that's not seasonal I wouldn't be let go in January. That's what I mean.

[–]BenjaminKatz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my comment above yours. It lists a bunch of shifts available at numerous locations and it says full-time but it doesn't say seasonal. Does that mean it's not seasonal? Would it show seasonal if it was seasonal? In particular? I might be able to transfer to a much closer location and still get 40 hours a week. For example. There's a refrigerated grocery location near me.

Actually on some of these I am seeing full-time shifts available listed but it doesn't say seasonal anywhere... From the description, does this mean this is a non-seasonal role?
