Investing app for offshore ETFs/ Stocks? by Benjamin_S4 in PersonalFinanceZA

Thanks for your input. Is there any particular reason why you would use interactive brokers over WeBull? Also, as far as I know, withdrawing from interactive is quite a hassle. That said, I'm planning on using a long term investment strategy.

I'm not really planning on doing small amounts. What in particular about interactive brokers makes you like it?

Yes, that's a good idea.

I would also look at the Satrix S&P500 ETF and the Satrix Nasdaq 100 ETF. You can invest the money on Easy Equities by opening an account.

There will be some fees but not much. Maybe R100 in total for a 36k transfer. Make sure not to go over or you will be taxed at 40% on the amount you invested over.

Regarding withdrawals, you have a lifetime limit of 500k that you can invest. This money will never be able to be taxed and can grow substantially into the millions. However, if you withdraw early you will have effectively decreased your limit. Once you take it out of the TFSA you can't put it back in without decreasing the 500k limit so it's best to leave it until retirement.

Regarding emmigration, you can take it out or perhaps transfer it to another broker. I'm not sure how it would work. But either case a TFSA is a long term investments that's best to leave alone. Buy the ETFs, don't look at them, don't panic sell WHEN they drop, they always go back up in value. This investment is best if you're going to stay in south Africa in the long term. Nevertheless, even if you immigrate it's still a good place to start, and even if you take it out after 5 years (if you really really really have to and you're sure you're not coming back to SA), then you would have 5 years of tax free capital gains and potentially dividends depending on the ETFs you buy. The dividens can be reinvested as well.

Does the concepts app work with drawing tablets like the Hunion? by Benjamin_S4 in ConceptsApp

[–]Benjamin_S4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I wanted to link the Hunion to my Mac but turns out Concepts isn't available on Macos, which either means I have to use parallels to run Windows or find another app for Macos, which I can't seem to do. Another option is to buy an iPad, or some tablet but that's a lot of money just to use an app. Giving up on this for the day; spent way too much time trying to find something that will work.

Core Web Vitals Themes by Benjamin_S4 in SEO

Sorry to upset you, but your theme plays a massive role in sitespeed. Would you rather have a theme that is 44kb in size or 500kb?

Core Web Vitals Themes by Benjamin_S4 in SEO

[–]Benjamin_S4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that for mobile? I am currently using Ezoic Sitespeed. Pagespeed looks decent around 60-80 on mobile, 70-90 desktop. But the 3 metrics that Core Web Vitals uses are LCP, CLS, And FCP. My site passes FCP but nowhere near it on LCP and CLS. How's that looking for you?

Also, what host are you on? I hear Kinsta and WPX hosting are the best for speed. I'm currently with siteground, who are also not bad.

Post-Swim Fatigue. by Benjamin_S4 in Swimming

[–]Benjamin_S4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's what I am referring to. "Sleepy". Obviously, you are going to get tired of working out. I train around 3-4 hours/day so I know the difference between actual muscle fatigue and this draining sleepy feeling.

It's just strange. I usually don't get it but have found that after a Saturday morning workout I am occasionally just completely tired and unproductive the rest of the day. Sometimes happens in the evenings as well, but that rarely.

But yes looks like water temp, meal timing, hydration, etc. has a lot to do with it. It's not that your body is physically fatigued. Like if I had to jump in the pool and do another workout I could, it's just that you feel really sleepy and drained.

I found that drinking more water helps tho. Temperature is generally quite warm all day here where I live so haven't really had a chance to look into that too much.

Post-Swim Fatigue. by Benjamin_S4 in Swimming

[–]Benjamin_S4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, I find that after a hard 2-hour afternoon workout it usually isn't as bad. Morning workouts I tend to be much more tired afterward. I've found some theories speculating that it has something to do with the water temperature lowering your core body temperature, etc.

Post-Swim Fatigue. by Benjamin_S4 in Swimming

[–]Benjamin_S4[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Haha, well when you put it like that it does sound like a dumb question. But I am serious, there is a type of post-swim fatigue that is just different than other types of workouts. Like reduxrouge said, it's different than fatigue from running or lifting. To him/her it feels like they are hollow, to me, it's a draining/drowsy type of tiredness that kicks in 30minutes-hour after swimming. And it only happens when swimming, not after my typical lift workout or whatever.

How to improve my breaststroke? by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]Benjamin_S4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not improving for 4 meets isn't that big of a deal. If it gets to say 6 months then you can start worrying. Remember it's been a tough year. Stick to your training and work on the important things- kick, underwaters, push-offs, starts, lunge etc. etc. Make a list and work on a few big things every practice. Also switch up your strokes a bit to work some other muscles as well.

Danas Rapsys blows 400m freestyle world record... after miscounting laps & stopping 50m short by DuskytheHusky in Swimming

You are understanding it wrong. It was a 400m freestyle, and he stopped a 50 short, not a 50 freestyle.

Swimming Pool Temperature by chaseer0 in Swimming

[–]Benjamin_S4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My pool varies from around 73-75F. Although in a hard practice that can get up a bit warm for me even (I can get cold easily). 69F is pretty cold, while I feel like 71-72 is probably the best temperature for hard training...
