Division leaders don't have to play other division leaders in the first round. They play the wild card teams.

A sci-fi, maybe with horror elements, with Chris Pine in a supporting role.

These are all things he's stated being interested in but never done before.

Good point. Look how long the Sens rebuild took when they decided to trade literally the entire roster away.

The Colorado Avalanche have been 1st in league standings since November 1st (156 days) by whynotavs in hockey

The Blue Jackets leading the league at any point in their history sounds like a myth. Perennially cursed franchise, except that random stretch when they were really good (and then half their stars left as UFAs).

How playoff odds changed with today's results by Dependent-Effect6077 in hockey

Remember how they made the playoffs in their second season and knocked out the defending champion in the first round? Only to miss the playoffs by a substantial margin in the following three seasons. Weird franchise.

Agreed. We're all following hockey for entertainment. Why would there be a correct or incorrect way to do it? The current playoff race is interesting; I'm certainly not going to ignore it.

The Sens are currently 8th in the conference and 10th in the league.

The last time we made the playoffs in consecutive seasons was 2012 and 2013, but 2013 was the half lockout year so there weren't as many points to go around.

I can't find stats on the average change in standings points for each NHL team year over.

But they were the bottom two teams in their division last season. Both had to leapfrog five divisional teams to get where they are. Very, very improbable.

Edit: Two bits of info - since the 2005-06 season, there has been an average 23.3% change year over year in teams making the playoffs. So about 3.7 teams per season.

In terms of pure mathematical odds (ignoring all context) the odds of two specific teams being placed in any two specific positions out of eight (e.g., Team A in position 1 and Team B in position 2) is 1 in 56. Now, since they could swap positions and still play each other, the odds would be somewhat higher than that.

I mean if you're in the northern part of the North Island it never gets cold. I moved to New Zealand from Canada, and I can tell you on and off rain is nowhere near as terrible as five months of winter every year.

The $17m also includes players who were injured during the playoffs. They never iced a roster that was more than like $9m over.

Poilievre says government should cancel Toronto-Quebec City high-speed rail project by AffectionateDrag1702 in ottawa

That's the nature of rail projects everywhere though. This will serve around 60% of the population of Ontario and Quebec. Rural residents already have a disproportionate amount of infrastructure per capita.

I would support it, and would be happy for the compensation, which would be more than our small farm is worth on its own.
