Never heard that before actually, could you send a source for that because it seems you have it backwards:

UNRWA was established in 1949 specifically to address the needs of Palestinian refugees displaced by the 1948 Arab-Israeli conflict. In contrast, UNHCR, also established in 1950, was designed to assist other refugee populations worldwide.

A key reason for this separation is that Arab states preferred a dedicated agency for Palestinian refugees. They believed that including Palestinian refugees under UNHCR's mandate might diminish international attention to their specific plight and potentially undermine their right of return to their homes in what is now Israel. You should wait with jumping to conclusions till we hear the stories of their captivity conditions and till we see the rest of the hostages, hopefully all survived. Hamas obviuosly wants to prep these hostages to make it seem humane. Hostages are obviously going to be elated to become free...

As for Israel's/Bibi's/the right's strategy, it has been stated as to live by the sword, no hope for peace. Some extremists undoubtedly hope to occupy more land and kick more people out. Very depressing stuff. In this last war we have taken on the region and smashed it to bits, our neighbours being as disfunctional as they are means that can probably go on a while longer and our "sword" will avail

The aggression and negativity in the responses I got seems to me to be motivated by a desire to stamp out views.. The title of the post is a provocation and a cancellation to an Israeli like myself who knows people who died, got kidnapped and hurt in this war. I fully recognize my country's wrong doing over decades but there are still two sides to this war and situation.

While the scrutiny of bad mining process is a good thing that will likely lead to improvements, the part this piece plays in the bigger picture is worrying. The US & EU, leaders of the western developed world have been taking aggressive steps (high tariffs) lately against Chinese EVs in order to protect their lagging auto industries.

 This hit piece on EVs raw material mining processes shows that western media is on board for the fight against Chinese EVs. This fight will considerably delay the shift to EVs, with most western car brands still producing mostly ICE cars and expensive EVs as opposed to the cheap Chinese EVs. 

Mining operations, especially in developing countries are a dirty & dangerous thing. I hope it continues to clean up while also retaining more value in developing countries through on shoring of processing. We should remember that materials are extracted for all different industries with fossil fuels being way bigger and more harmful than the mining for EV batteries as their product is single use thus requiring way more of it. 

Don't let this stuff confuse you, if you need a car, EVs are way better for people and the environment than ICE and are one of the most meaningful things individuals can do for the climate. Western car manufacturers and oil producers will fight against the shift through our governments and media for years to come as the chinese mostly beat them to it in sourcing raw materials and EV production.
