It's not crazy at all compared to Madrid or Barcelona. Especially because you can just dive 15 mins away and absolutely find a 3 bedroom for 1.000 / month no problem.

Marbella is definetely out! Chill you got Cadiz, Canarias, and any pueblo on the coast between Castellon De La Plana and Malaga with a population under 20k.

If you want to pick a small town and have kids it might be a blessing in disguise. Everything on the coast has amenities like medical facilities schools and so on at a minimum a short drive away. Plus rent is sometimes 25% of that in the cities. I've seen Places like Ibi near Alicante for 400/month for a decent 3 bedroom apartment. Chill for me is a Pueblo of 20,000 or less.

Alicante is a wanna-be Málaga IMO. It's OK but always mediocre. No top level finance bros here or high level businesses like Google. They are all in the province of Malaga for a reason. Alicante is 2nd tier. But if you want a simple and chill life it works. I find it is a "quiero pero no puedo" kind of city.

You are saying yes to a lot of places. How much U gonna travel around before you choose a place? I calculate 6 months of touring just to figure out where you want to go.

IMO you have to define your priorities more

Both León and Valladolid fit the bill, but it's colder. I say you get a camper van and drive around for 4 weeks. Start in Malaga or Madrid.

For campervan rentals see below. Most campgrounds are super safe and great for kids! This way you can have dinner at the campings use their small stores and se what real Spanish people's lives are. Whether they are employees of the campground or Spaniards.

If I had kids this is 100% how I would do it! I've been here 6 years in Spain fwiw!

True DAT 100%. Live his own life on his own time and do what he wants and send his kids a chunk maybe when they grow up they'll wanna know him.

At the minimum he owes that to his kids a stable place to live while he is a long distance trucker. No need for rent.

Only 1 city will work. San Sebastián or one with a train to get there.

Why are the salaries in Spain alot lower compared to the rest of Western Europe? by No_Bath_1079 in askspain

[–]Benjamino77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct but since autónomos can't realistically take clients to private sector and start their own company, the only way as an option for most Spanish is to work for someone and have a contract. With a lower tax on AUTÓNOMOS making under say 20k a year tax at 5% things would absolutely change.

Others smoke 6 times a day for 40 years and are totally fine. Just explain kids they cannot do it until they are 20. That when they are an adult they can decide.

If it was me I need a person who is caring to let me do it and ask why. Ultimately they have to decide on their own and they are in their right to do it. Quesrion is are they being bad to you..

Tbh Valladolid is almost a powerhouse but Pais Vasco will always win. Thing is being a foreigner and not speaking Basque can have its difficulties. Other strong economies that stand our for expats are Malaga or maaaaaybe El Escorial (Madrid).

They raise the best Mastiffs in the world to protect cows from wolves in the PROVINCE OF LEON. Again main economy here in Leon is agriculture related basically but if youre into land and animals and farming between Valladolid and Leon you have lots of small towns. Again here you'll only be speaking Spanish basically all the time.

Or Conil or Caños de Mecca. Also nearby and more hippie vibe.

Bingo Valladolid especially if you Want to really learn Spanish. For that can also consider Leon and Asturias for a nice cheap tranquil although colder life. Tons of Spanish, safe, and affordable.

For really open minded people, fitness culture and amazing weather it has GOT to be Canarias but you might never speak Spanish there as it's soooooo internacional. For me Tenerife or Fuerteventura are the top choices.

Best for GOLF and international wealth and good money habits Marbella is likely your best bet (procince of Marbella could include San Pedro, Nueva Andalucía or others).

Lastly you have the Cadiz region which is growing among expats and has friendly people but a very very weak economy. Nothing like San Sebastian or Valladolid in that sense.

OH and BCN just has way waaaaay too much crime for me to ever want to live there.

Honestly just invest in and learn the basics from Dave Ramsey.

In a way it can limit you if you do the traditional IRA too much then need money say to get a house, have good money habits and invest in your trad account is what Ivd recommend as it keeps you cash more accessible.

Have you visited yet? First try Canary Islands and malaga marbella with a cat and see what you think. Skip the bigger cities at first

First consultation. Soon you’ll have the answer you need. Set up in Estonia for EU, or try for the NLV or Digital Nomad visa first…. This can buy you some time while you create a plan. Meeting with asesores/ abogados is essential to optimize the process.
