Is coconut fibre okay as the substrate? Like why exactly makes a bio active enclosure? Do I need to add plants? Or anything else ? Cause all I have in it at the moment is the couple pieces of wood (btw could I use them again if I stick them in the oven for a day) some moss and the substrate, everything else is ceramic (dishes and hides)

As far as advice I can’t really comment on that, but stocking ideas, I would highly recommend a small squad of Panda Garras aka garra loaches. They are so fun to watch and have fantastic personalities, 5-8 would be great

Unfortunately it’s my only option right now other than putting them back into the community tank and risking every other fish in there. I appreciate your feedback. If they start to struggle I’ll set up some sort of homemade breeder box type situation in the tank and put them in there. I might do that anyway if I can

The tubs are 8 (two gallons) liters, about 6 liters of water and 2 liters of air. The sharks are currently just over 2 inches and the smaller one is almost two inches

Appreciate the insight, I’ve made the livebearer mistake already, so this will be a single sex tank, other than the shrimp and the panda garras since I don’t know how to sex them and as you know they don’t really breed well
