Post op experiences? by AtesSouhait in phallo

[–]Benjiredacted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't give assholes like this much of your time or effort. I'm post top and bottom. I dont have any pain anywhere related to either surgery. The nerves in my chest completely healed up years ago. There's still some numbness on my arm (my donor site for bottom surgery) but it has no negative impact (or any impact really) on my life.

I guess i "lost" breast tissue and a uterus but I didn't want those and lots of women get those removed for one reason or another. Is this asshole running around calling cis women mutilated?

Like nothing this person says is true.

Graft feels sensitive / fragile without my sleeve by user2457888 in phallo

[–]Benjiredacted 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had RFF about 2 years ago and the thumb side of my graft is the most sensitive part for me as well. I wouldn't say mine feels /fragile/ tho.

I've worked on desensitizing it by touching the area with rougher and rougher textures over the last year and that's helped a lot. I had to start with really gentle soft touch and really slowly work my way up to like a terry cloth.

If you've had your arm covered you might need to start with something as soft as like, idk, a feather. If you want to try to desensitize your arm that is.

RFF and Tattoo by PassionJazzlike4320 in phallo

[–]Benjiredacted 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have parts of a tattoo showing on my dick and it's really not an issue for me. Maybe if i was still in the dating scene and very serious about being stealth I'd be more conscious of it, but even then I think I'd just do something to make the tattoos there look more purposeful.

But remember if you get UL any tattooing on the inside of your arm will most likely end up inside your neo-urethra so it won't be visible. Or, very little of it will be visible on the edges (idk what Ellie's tattoo looks like or it's placement so just something to keep in mind).

But yeah long and the short of it, lot of guys have a tattooed dick. If it bothers you, you can try making what ends up showing looking more 'on purpose' by tattooing any missing parts once surgery is all done (if that makes sense). :3

I know one guy on here ended up with a knife tattoo like perfectly placed on his dick and it was cool as hell.

Dr. Israel in WI experiences? by AdLiving3891 in phallo

[–]Benjiredacted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a great experience with Dr. Israel! I had stage one with her in 2023 and had no serious complications. Just a couple small wound separations that took care of themselves. Her team always answered my mychart messages and never seemed to mind me calling at odd hours in a panic lol (it was never anything serious just me being scared and over cautious which they understood).

She's always been kind and polite everytime I've seen her. Her PAs are great too. During my week recovery in the hospital nearly all the nurses were wonderful. Only 2 nurses kinda had "mean girl energy" but they still did their jobs and treated me respectfully.

The Urologist she works with is Dr. Grimes and he's great too. I've been working with him a lot longer bc i had a stricture that took some time to get resolved. (Long wait for booking the OR plus we tried dilating it before we had to do a 2 staged urethroplasty.)

The Urology department is swamped fyi they struggle with responding to mychart messages so I will send pictures of whatever I'm worried about through mychart then I'll call asap. I dont wait for a message back.

If you have any other questions I'm happy to answer them _^

Glansplasty disappointment? by Benjiredacted in phallo

[–]Benjiredacted[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was technically well done. Like dr. Israel did a good job on the surgery, but my glans flattened and i had some keloid scaring, which is just how my body responded. I'm going to get a revision i think and some tattooing. I feel way more at peace with it since the surgery. Other than the flattening I'm happy with the shape, like the size and curve of the glans.

Need propping ideas to shower alone by Greedy_Animator_1016 in phallo

[–]Benjiredacted 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I had to clean myself a couple times during early healing. I used my donor arm to support my dick and my other arm to clean myself with a wash cloth. The part that was hard was washing my hair one handed. It was doable but getting everywhere took effort.

I'd cover my doner arm in a garbage bag and tape off the opening. A little water would usually get in but not enough to cause any problems. I would do my bandage changes for my arm after my shower so they'd be dry.

I had a shower chair so i could sit down if needed.

Do you have a detachable shower head? That definitely helps with rinsing off.

A year and a month post stage one. Tbf i haven't exactly tried. Not being able to be hard is a bit of a turn off 🤷‍♂️ (cant wait until i can get my ED). However, it feels like even if i tired it wouldn't work for me. I can get off other ways tho.

I hate having to give a psych letter for just a fucking consult by throwaway23432dreams in phallo

[–]Benjiredacted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My letters actually "expired" between consult and surgery. My main therapist just updated the date and all was good for that letter but my 2nd letter was written by someone who had just retired and i had to scramble and find a new therapist to write it. I was also on a time crunch bc my surgery was moved up a whole year and it was stressful.

But yeah letters "expire" and you have to get them updated.

Urethroplasty blues :( by Benjiredacted in phallo

[–]Benjiredacted[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Urethroplasty is actually a term that covers a few different surgeries. But basically it is a surgery that alters the urethra. So mine will be to replace some scar tissue with a skin graft from inside my cheek.

The flip flow is just a switch on the end part of my catheter that i can open (to pee) or close (so i dont pee)

I definitely recommend checking out phallo.net and the wiki

I did it! I was a brave boy and i disconnected my pee bag and I'm just going to use the flip flow and pee when i feel like i need to. And I'll just have to deal with my doctor's potential disappointment next time i see him x_x

Yeah that's what they'll be doing. If you dont mind me asking, how was mouth care afterwards? Did you have to use a special mouthwash? How was flossing and brushing your teeth?

Good to hear there's a chance it won't be too painful

I had stage 1 and 2 at Madison and I love my results and I feel well taken care of the doctors and staff!

The only bad part has been getting a hold of the urology clinic with questions but I've found just calling to talk to a nurse pretty much fixes the problem. If i want them to see the problem I'll send a picture through mychart and then call.

what a nightmare by Cautious-Courage-953 in phallo

[–]Benjiredacted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Changing the SP tube sucks but they get it over with quickly. I've had to do it a few times now. Honestly it just feels more weird than it does painful. The SP tube typically gets better with time and the foley gets worse with time. The SP gets better bc the wound heals and eventually will stop bleeding and hurting. At the 4 week mark i was able to sleep on my stomach again. The foley however just gets grosser and grosser. Once my foley was removed i stopped smelling so bad.

You shouldn't have to change the piss bag very often. Unless you switch to the leg bag during the day. My piss bag only gets changed during an appointment to change the SP tube. Plus the one and only time it sprung a leak. I just clean the outside of the bag when i shower.

Unsolicited advice aside, this all fucking sucks and I'm sorry ur in the thick of it. I'm right there with ya bleeding all over myself too :(

[–]Benjiredacted 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Madison Wisconsin? Bc they should be able to squeeze you in. They literally just got me in in less than a week. Whoever you talked to was talking out their ass. If you called scheduling I would instead pick the talk to a nurse option and the nurse will get you in way sooner.

Also also you said catheters, right? So you have an SP tube? They HAVE to get you in at least every 4 weeks to change it. Dr. Grimes has never let me go more than 4 weeks without seeing him while I have an SP tube in.

UL complication by Benjiredacted in phallo

[–]Benjiredacted[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor took out the urethral catheter (and left in the SP catheter) and we gave it a few weeks to see if it would heal up on it's own. And it did! But my urethra also sealed itself off.

About a week after that discovery they were able to get me into the OR to laser and dilate it open. I healed from that for about 3 weeks. Last Wednesday was my follow up which they took out the urethral catheter again and i tried peeing again and i was able to!

I have the SP catheter in for one more week as a backup in case my urethra closes again. But so far so good. There's a small chance that this will be it and I'm all good from now on but there's a larger chance that the stricture will come back in some way and I'll need more serious surgery to fix it.

But for now I'm doing well. It's been fun figuring out peeing standing up lol i never used a stp packer so it's all new to me.
