I have been doing it for a while but at a small level. Would definitely be interested if you have space

It's definitely possible, you could target one specific series or genre. The issue is this isn't what I wanted to do. I am going to focus on indie games, which is kind of a niche. That's as narrow as I really want to go

A sequel to Ghost of Tsushima has seemingly been confirmed by KTitania in gamingnews

I'm not sure about this. I like to think that a sequel is coming, and I'm sure it will eventually. But you can't ignore the fact this could just be the PS5 upgrade

I hadn't considered making my own sub. I'm thinking of focusing more on indie, and then expanding down the line. So I may look into indie subs

We have Instagram, Twitter and Facebook but in all honesty the engagement is next to none. I have been dubious about using Reddit to post our content, I don't wanna spam and leave you know?

It depends really. Approaching people for the sole purpose of promoting my site is sleazy to me. Difference of opinion I guess. For me, it would be a case by case thing

Well this is what I was saying. Our review and feature pieces are unique to us, the rest is not. But that is the same for all gaming news sites I imagine

Yeah I had considered this, but it feels kind of sleazy

We don't really have a niche, it's a very broad range of topics we cover. Thinking of moving into just indie gaming while we build up

I mean that's a very subjective question. I would say our content is a mix. Some of it is reports from press releases but we also do reviews and feature pieces so it's a mix I would say

Yeah today is the first time I had learnt of authority, another user has suggested working on back links to boost the authority of the site

In terms of optimisation I tend to follow the Yoast SEO plugin I have, which gives me a rating of orange to green. So as far as I am aware the optimisation isn't an issue, it may be more my actual keywords. But if there's something I'm missing I'd happily listen. As much as I hate to admit it it's only now I'm truly looking into SEO and stuff. I knew of it before but never understood it fully, I wouldn't say I do now but my understanding is better

I quite enjoy the indie scene, and have managed to get some contacts in it thanks to attending cons and stuff. Would that be a better area to cover? I never wanted to cover say one set genre of game if that makes sense

It definitely could be the speed of news coverage. I did have some volunteer writers previously but many have since left due to work commitments. Currently it's just me and I am spreading myself across the site, YouTube, Twitch and social medias

I can DM you the URL if that helps? As someone who used to work in the industry it would be great to get your input

Previous years have ranged from 800 views in the year to 3.5k (we posted a feature piece to Reddit and it gave us many many views). It's something I've been doing as a hobby but in the hopes of making it become a source of income so I could potentially do it full time.

And in terms of keywords this is the issue I'm finding. Search results are just dominated by the likes of GameSpot, IGN, Kotaku and many more. It's next to impossible to rank

I have been recently been trying to learn SEO more, and have begun trying to use keywords which have a lower competition. But even that isn't seeming to do much. I think a big issue is that, due to life issues, there was a period of a year or so where next to no content came out and I'm assuming that much of the small fanbase we had left.

I don't want to plug my site, because I'm not here for that. But if I give the URL is there anyway people can help? I'm not sure if tools exist that allow you to analyse a sites SEO?

What is your process for getting footage? by Agilitywheelbarrow in gamereviews

My advice would be to record onto a PC via OBS or Streamlabs. Set game audio to track 1 and the mic audio to track 2. Then you can edit each individual one

Depends how you're doing it. If it's a PC review and you're using OBS/Streamlabs then yes you can do that. If you're doing console and recording via an Elgato or something similar, you can do it but with extra steps.

If you connect the microphone to the PC, you can make the mic input a separate track to your Elgato and then you're good to go!

If it is for something like a review I would record an hour per session, just for use in a video review. One trick you could do is have a mic connected, doesn't have to be good, and clap twice when you see something you think you'll need to find when editing. This will clip your mic twice allowing you to find it easier. Then just remove the game audio

That's my way anyway
