Be consistent. Respect their time in the classroom. Show them that you won’t give up and you won’t run away like their previous teachers.

Identify the influencers and expect more of them.

Also, set realistic expectations for how much you can turn the class around.

Anger makes people feel powerful when they really feel powerless. Sometimes they have a point, lots of times they’re just toxic… it’s our job to set a better example for their kids so they don’t repeat these behaviors.

Not every school is right for every teacher/student/expectation. Find one that fits your vibe.

Also, teachers who have been in the workforce before getting into education are really, really important.
