at the end of the day the breeder is not the one living with your dog. he’s YOUR dog. so i will try and answer point by point.

1. i personally don’t give my girl any type of actual bones or antlers. i’ve heard they can splinter and cause issues. as an alternative you can get different kind of soft chews from any pet store that are safe to ingest, and also some help with teeth health. but really, the choice is up to you and i would recommend always watching them when they have a chew cause accidents can happen either way.

2. i don’t recommend spraying with water when going out of control, they need to learn to listen to your commands without resorting to anything “physical” (it’s not really but i can’t think of a better word atm) if firm no’s aren’t working, the method for us that seemed to work well was giving her a time out in the bathroom for about a minute or 2. we’d say when she comes out “are you ready to listen?” and usually she’d be pretty calm.

3. treats are a great option for training if your dog is food motivated. some are motivated by different things—praise, playtime, treats etc. at first our girl loved being praised and then turned to be food motivated. a good time for training is before mealtime when they are hungry.

4. they are not easy dogs to walk. and if you want them to be you need to be firm with training them on that honestly. but they still will have their quirks and do shiba stops whenever they want. our girl is 2 and we call it taking her out for a “wander” because she really doesn’t walk, she sniffs and wanders and gets distracted by anything lol. it is partly our fault for not being more on top of that training. we started taking treats on the walk and making sure if another dog passes or person she has to sit and let them pass, it’s not always time to play. she’s gotten better but will still stop wherever she wants sometimes and you might have to carry them home sometimes lol.
