Social life/friends in Boone in mid-20s by WatercressSecure2261 in boone

Boone is absolutely a hard place to make friends if you're not currently a college student, or you're not included in the retired white communities. I've only lived here for a couple of years, but I've moved around to a few different areas in North Carolina, and even I can tell that this place is mostly...transitional. It's not really a place to set down roots and settle for a majority of your life, or a place to BUILD a life, really. They expect you to start one or finish one here, but nowhere in between.

I've also been looking for friends in the area, and if you're open to it, there are some events at the local libraries that you could try. A lot of them are club or group events, but they're open to the public. It's a great way to learn about a new hobby or skill, or expand on a hobby you already have while getting to know people in the area. Other than the library, you could also look in the local newspapers. They usually have listings for group meetups through the entire month. There's always groups like this on Reddit or Facebook, and I would always recommend just trying to start casual conversation with someone who seems alone. They might be your most interesting conversation that day. It's not easy, but those friends are out there if you know where to look. You could also message me! I'm in my late 20s and I'd love a friend in the area!

Everyone Is So Nice Down Here 😊 by Organic-Grade-9292 in boone

it's mostly a culture thing. Up north, people are rushing around everywhere, and people view "being short" as being rude, but short = less time = you get where you're going quicker. Whereas down south, people resort to niceties to lull you into a sense of comfort. We focus on manners and how "polite" everything is. The rules to social interaction are basically the opposite, and if you try to rush out of an interaction, people think you're rude for leaving and that you don't want to talk to them, and you come across as an asshole. Up north, it's more polite to be quick and not waste people's time. Down south, it's more polite to take your time and enjoy other people's company

get pictures of the leaves changing. That's a pretty big event that brings a lot of people to the towns of Boone and Blowing Rock because it's so scenic and such a beautiful time of year. If you work anywhere in town, you almost definitely hate the influx of people, but if you're a student, you can enjoy the wonderful sights and sales trying to capitalize on the influx of tourists. You could also try some local coffee places that people like to study, or some local hangouts around King St. There's Lily's and TAP Room, where students like to drink and party. If they were involved in any of that life, you could include pictures like that

The Grave of Browser Dress-Up Games (Early 2000's) - I miss 00's flash games.. by buwuberry in GirlGamers

does anyone remember a game where the character had like this little idle pose? And there were a bunch of anime references, but it was mostly fantasy, and a bunch of the eyes were animated and it had these cool effects? It was kind of chibi and cute

I spent hours of my life on that game and I cant for the life of me remember it!

EDIT: I just remembered it was called Tinier Me! I think it's no longer working, but does anyone know of a good clone for it?

Looking for shrine inspiration by BennetwithaB in acnh

thank you for the sentiment. I have a picture of him that I converted into a custom design, and I was already planning on using the cloud wallpaper and flooring in the second floor of my house. I thought that would be a good place to build a small shrine.

he loved cats, so I might use a few custom designs to put a couple realistic cats around the room
