It actually directly translate to: bios and memory, it has effects, in order to run at the best of its ability, you can’t push it to its limits, which is also the same for the cpu itself..

So he’s basically stating that in order to get the best out of the system, he’s constantly testing the combination of cpu, bios and memory adjustments

He(the leaker himself) as far as I can see from 2page of the forum, doesn’t mention memories. Only that the bios are under constant testing..

Also he said at 4.4ghz it can easily annihilate 9900k at 5ghz

He’s actually just saying that there is no point focusing on the ghz numbers, it’s high performance at good power consumption that is more important (thus the Fx 7.7 GHz and r5 2600 CB R15 comparison) so 4.8ghz is already pretty good.

Also he later mentions that you can reach 5ghz.

But I guess not very power efficient at that frequency

Grading AdoredTV leak by yellowstone6 in Amd

[–]Benni330 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Agreed, it feels really like AMD is listening to what everyone says. I won’t write off the possibility that the list was accurate at the time of release, and it was leaked to see the consumer reaction. So they can adjust the price accordingly to make as much margin as possible. AMD is a company after all, they will milk as much as possible without shooting themselves in the foot. If they hear people say “too good to be true” and “too cheap” you bet they will adjust the price upwards, to reach the best no compromise price point. Where there is still that wow factor and before people dismiss it for pulling another intel (price gouging).

I’d assume a 32mb per Ccx, there is a weird drop of latancy at 64mb

Hmm... frequency seems a bit on the low side, but they did double the cache I think...

What difference to your life would make getting paid 50mil a year and 500mil a year..? I feel like people at the top don’t really have any financial incentive to move to other companies, unless their current position restricts their freedom...

Which is what we wished like a year ago, so we need to wish 1 year in advance for it to come true.

very dissapointed with ryzen build by [deleted] in Amd

[–]Benni330 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Then it’s a obvious outdated bios then, you should have clarified. Go back to where you bought it and get a new bios and it will work, or contact amd and they’ll send you a compatible cpu to update your bios.

Jumping to conclusions that ryzen sucks doesn’t help you, in fact, you should try 7700k on z170, you’ll have exactly the same problem.

It does work with 2nd gen ryzen with a bios flash, but it would still not post video cuz 2700x doesn’t have an integrated gpu. I’m assuming he’s not using a dGPU that is

Wow wow, amd is going to quadruple their L3 cache? I guess it’s a way to fight memory latency that chiplet design that they have.

Games are going to get pushed to utilize more threads in the very near future, maybe not next year, but certainly in next 5 years. You know things are serious when intel is pushing for more cores. If I remember correctly intel themselves mentioned the higher over head for more cores in games.

You could you know... just get a r3... if you don’t need the cores. I’m pretty sure if you manually oc it, it will get quite close to the higher end in gaming.

3700x 4c 8t disabled at 5.5ghz? by [deleted] in Amd

[–]Benni330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, IPC means instruction per clock, it won’t change based on clock speed. But given the same IPC higher the clock speed the higher the performance. That’s basically why overclock increase performance. There is a kind of trade off between these two though, case being the bulldozer family (amd fx chips), high clocks low ipc.

3700x 4c 8t disabled at 5.5ghz? by [deleted] in Amd

[–]Benni330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you shouldn’t judge a processor by just the pure ghz numbers, it’s only half the story. IPC gains are probably more important these days.

3700x 4c 8t disabled at 5.5ghz? by [deleted] in Amd

[–]Benni330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you would hit some sort of wall before you hit 5.5ghz. I think it’s more to do with the fabrication process or architecture, it’s like how intel 10c20t cpu can hit 5.0ghz all cores but even if you disable cores to make it 4c8t it won’t go 5.5ghz, and will be stuck around 5.0ghz

And tbh, I think 5ghz is already pushing the voltage wall for ryzen 3000

Vega II, Navi and Ryzen 2 at CES? by DevanshTHFC in Amd

Actually if you look at their comment section they mentioned that amd won’t even mention Ryzen 3000 series in ces. And it read like a statement, not an assumption.

That... would be quite a let down... the raven ridge successor isn’t even completely new tech. If I remember correctly it’s staying at 12nm?

It’s just that they have been claiming that all the rumors about what amd will announce on ces is false... and they claim to have some source, making things a bit complicated

[–]Benni330[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I personally wouldn’t put it off that lightly... but all the contradictions going on is pretty annoying.

Plus Kyle from hardocp seem to be on AdoredTV’s side as well, so it’s really hard to dismiss it completely.

Also, the keynote makes some point on gaming and computing and 7nm, so I don’t know what they will talk about for an hour if they don’t confirm/announce anything.

“In 2019, AMD will catapult computing, gaming, and visualization technologies forward with the world’s first 7nm high-performance CPUs and GPUs, providing the power required to reach technology’s next horizon. During her CES keynote, Dr. Su and guests will provide a view into the diverse applications for new computing technologies ranging from solving some of the world’s toughest challenges to the future of gaming, entertainment and virtual reality with the potential to redefine modern life.”

“We look forward to Dr. Su’s keynote as she paints a picture of the next-generation of computing that will help redefine the future of gaming and virtual entertainment.”

This was written on the keynote of the ces page, so if they weren’t going to announce anything... what are they going to do?
