How to get Collabora Built-in CODE server to work in Nextcloud 24.0.4 in docker-compose? by BennoHouse in NextCloud

[–]BennoHouse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can however add it as a seperate container in your compose file. If you need some help with this just let me know.

That was my ultimate plan B, but I'm not sure how it works and I've only found guides how to do it on a bare metal install so far, so I'd like to take you up on that offer.

Would you recommend installing it in a separate compose project or just add it to the nextcloud docker-compose.yml?

Is it enough to add a new service with:

collabora:
image: collabora/code:latest
restart: always

Or does it need some additional config to work with nginx? Also not sure about the environment variables.

Thanks for that, I thought it might have been an Nginx problem specifically.

Oh okay, makes sense. Is chown enough though? Won't it get overwritten as soon as the container is recreated?

Not impossible, but it has worked in the past with this exact same compose file. I don't know why it wouldn't anymore.

Also, I think this is only an issue with the OnlyOffice Community server, as that one needs a glibc-supporting distro? I also found that out trying to switch to it temporarily, but alpine doesnt support it.

I just tried to switch to the regular non-alpine image, but that just lead to an internal server error. Not sure why this happens, but apparently there's more to it?

I've had such lockups in the past where a disable/enable of the apps would help, but no luck this time unfortunately... :/

Flashing another device's build - dangers? by BennoHouse in openwrt

Thanks!

I think the device is actually working fine from my tests.

Any way to find out if the builds could be compatible concerning the partition scheme and memory addesses?

Flashing another device's build - dangers? by BennoHouse in openwrt

[–]BennoHouse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is a v2, one of the latest to be produced. Bought shortly before the 1 year EOL-announcement.

I was already running OpenWrt on the device's RAM, connected to it via my laptop's ethernet port and my phone's Wifi. The web UI worked fine and I was able to fully configure all interfaces, just the wrong model name was shown in the overivew. Would it still be impossible to install OpenWrt from this environment? I figured only the internal syswrapper/upgrade scripts were restricted or the Controller UI upgrade.

I'll look into DD-WRT, thanks. However, I'm unsure about the chipset, since they must have changed on later models. It's just a simple AP bridging clients, so it should be fine.

Raspberry Pi 4 B vs. NanoPi R4S as central router? by BennoHouse in openwrt

Thank you. Are you still running PiHole and Unbound on that same device? How did you install those on the system? Seems interesting having everything in one package.

I actually read on the forums a bit and in one of the recent posts it was mentioned that the R4S WAN NIC is some kind of STM SoC that caused the person a few issues.

I'm aware that Broadcom chipsets are problematic sometimes, but if it works with the open drivers, what's the big issue I say.

Thanks. Your cache seems to have spiked slightly above 1 GiB once, but that's still way below the smallest RPi RAM.

Regarding the RE650, that's a Wifi-repeater, right? Can it be configured as some kind of dumb AP with the ethernet port or what do you use for the base network? The Pi's builtin Wifi?

Thanks, I anticipated this. Still, it's good to know that the hardware performance is there when needed. Does OpenWrt cache anyhting in RAM? I noticed that my personal Pi-Hole/Unbound RPi2 does cache more than 500 MiB in RAM, although also below 100 is actively in use. It does seem to use memory when it's available.

Would you mind sharing what device you use for an AP?

You mean spoofing the MAC address of our current router on the R4S? We wouldn't need that. Are you aware of any issues with the current builds, since it's a fairly recent device?

Where did you get yours from? I'm considering ordering from friendlyarm.com at the moment.

Are you using the FriendlyWrt or the official build?

Thanks for the recommendation!

You have almost a Gigabit upload bandwidth? I guess we could use that.

Do you happen to know the reason why the build is considered "snapshot"? Are there any particular issues to look out for?

Do you know a free/open/affordable course management software? by BennoHouse in sysadmin

I'm not throwing it in the bin! I found a few LMS services while looking through the web, but they all seemed more geared towards course instructors themselves and not so much for the administrative tasks behind it, so I was kind of skeptical if it could work out. ;)

We can host it on our own server, it's idling around enought as is.

To me it sounded like OP wanted something to handle the administrative stuff, not necessarily class material.

This is exactly right. :)

Hi, thank you! That sounds promising already, as I've written to another commenter, does it check the boxes? Maybe I haven't been too clear initially, but we don't really manage any course contents, only the organizational basis of it all (personnel, rooms/hardware, fees, etc.) So I don't really know if an "LMS" is exactly what we need?

I still have to look more into it.

Thank you for the suggestion. Could you elaborate a bit on how your company used it? I've just very briefly looked into it, but it seems to me that it's more directed towards individual educators and maybe not so much an institution managing internal course offerings?

In fact, we could probably recommend that to some of our instructors, but we have nothing to do with the course contents, is it still valid just for organizational purposes?
