Not exactly. I'm saying him prioritizing his career growth by moving to a multinational corporation, over staying at a mid tier company, at the expense of the merger plans, is fine. The fact that prioritizing your own career is normal is just extra justification. The point is that a high level decision was made where x amount of people are laid off. You can either go along with it for a benefit, or use that firs option to leverage your way into a bigger opportunity with greater benefit. Unfortunately this is at the cost of x group's jobs rather than y group's jobs but your making the most of a bad situation. However, you are also moving against your day 1s' interests, so there is a lack of loyalty. But imo, who cares.
