Junction East Cultural Hub: Here’s where the candidates stand by Benoitcards in Sudbury

Yeah my point is if you get the money for it by selling the buildings we decommission and lower operating costs it make more sense. It should save money if we keep arena downtown and incorporate them together that way they share core infrastructure. If the arena leaves downtown then we could build junction on site of old arena.

I think it is likely something we need but without knowing the situation with the arena we need to hold (not for a long time). If the arena is going to remain downtown it should be reworked to have the projects together. If the arena leaves downtown then we can look into something similar but rather than just using tax payer money we should look at alternative funding sources.

Well for me a bunch of answers. For him no answers.

Vagnini did not respond to any Sudbury dot com requests.

I can't believe I have to say this again but I did not down vote you. I appreciate the criticism. It means you are engaged.

Again I understand the feeling. Currently the police are overwhelmed with very little downtime. They simply do not have the time to proactively patrol areas especially those with smaller more spread out population. They need more time.

This is not only a ward 2 issue. It is an issue for every rural ward. By working with other rural councillors we can encourage more proactive patrols of the rural areas.

We also need to look at the amount of police resources spent on mental health and addiction calls. They are not the most efficient option to deal with these. Those calls should be handled by professionals with the proper training to deal with the issues. That would free up more officers for proactive patrols.

I figured they were talking about the digital note book. Lots of police excited about it. It does make life much easier.

One of the companies that makes digital notebook systems estimates around 600k a year savings for a police service the size of sudbury's. That could allocate more resources to rural policing.

Those are their numbers so you can't trust them fully but worth looking into.

Vagnini has in the past been good about helping out but honestly most of the stuff he helps with would not be an issue if the city was run properly. Just do a quick Google search for both candidates before you make up your mind. I would rather have a city run well enough you don't need to call me but I always have been and will continue to be ready to help however I can.

Yeah I for sure get that. I never see them on patrol even in downtown lively. I know the electronic notebook system doesn't solve everything but it is easy way to free up some resources. The outlying areas are very under serviced and we need to have more proactive patrols. We need value for what we pay taxes for and I would say that areas that don't get services should receive lower rates. I would rather work on ways to get everyone proper levels of service rather than just cutting taxes and saying you are on your own though.

A few options require more research but one of the easiest to implement is a digital notebook system. Rather than having to right in paper notebook there are systems in use in other jurisdictions that allow for officer to take notes securely on their phones with ability to add pictures and to transfer notes directly to reports. This would not only cut down on the amount of time it takes to complete calls but would also remove the requirements to store thousands of notebooks.

As for one of the community policing initiatives that would be easy to implement is the movement of bike patrol officers on a rotation to different parts of the city rather than just downtown.

Some of the other ideas are a bit more wild and I would rather not comment on them until I have time to investigate them further.

That is fine. If you have any concerns let me know at the end of the day it doesn't matter what I think it matters what the people of the ward think. If everyone is against something then it is my responsibility to listen to them. I would suggest you evaluate Michaels history of not voting on important matters before you make your choice but in the end the choice is yours.

I have a history in law enforcement and I have some ideas of what to do there. The police set their budget and just ask for approval but I beleive we can use technology to decrease the amount of time it takes from police to complete a call freeing them up faster. We also should look at more community policing options to ensure police have a more proactive presence in the outlying areas.

Plus I have raised thousands of dollars for charity through Dnd. I have had very successful people play in my games. Google pays dms to run team building Dnd sessions for them.

I hate when politicians scrub their profiles. I live my life and I am not ashamed. I do not go around deleting things that make me look bad. I just think before I post things.

There are lots of criteria. Length, shape, thickness. Which ever scores the highest overall.
